NUCLEAR ACCIDENT BARELY AVOIDED IN GERMANY
SHIP WITH TONNES OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL AND EXPLOSIVES BURNS AT HAMBURG HARBOR.
Early this month a cargo ship with tonnes of radioactive and explosive materials caught fire in Hamburg. Firefighters were barely able to stop a much greater nuclear catastrophe by removing the dangerous containers out of the burning ship just in time before they exploded.
Authorities never warned the population, although there were tens of thousands just meters away celebrating an Evangelical church day. Hamburg has almost two million inhabitants.

After intense questioning by Green Party members, authorities were forced to confirm that the ship had been carrying around nine tonnes of dangerous radioactive uranium hexafluoride, a toxic chemical used in the nuclear industry, as well as four tonnes of explosives.
It's within the law in Germany for ships to carry radioactive materials and explosives, even at the same time.
They also added that this type of shipment is common and perfectly legal in Germany. Radioactive material has been brought to the harbor 21 times in the past 3 months alone.
