Elephants are being murdered in the hundreds to satisfy the lust for ivory in Asia and other parts of the world.
Here is the story in photographs of a baby elephant who refused to leave her murdered mother's side.
The baby nudges her mother with her trunk, trying to elicit a response. When she eventually realizes her mother is no longer alive, she still refuses to leave her side and remained there for many hours, in silent grief.
