WHO TRULY DESERVES A STATE - THE PALESTINIANS OR THE KURDS?

The following column by Victor Sharpe is from 2012, but it is even more relevant today.

It is astonishing how the same world leaders who clamor for the partition of Israel to create another Arab state, are silent regarding the Kurds need for a state of their own, although they are far more deserving than the Palestinians, who have no distinct language, history, or ethnicity than the rest of the Arabs in the region.  Kurds do have distinct characteristics, and all 30 million of them now live as oppressed minorities in several Middle East countries.

Why aren't their voices heard, while the Palestinians capture the world's loving attention?
Perhaps because the world can't blame Israel for their plight.

Who truly deserves a state,
the Palestinians or the Kurds?

Kurdish-inhabited area by CIA (1992).jpg
Kurdish-inhabited areas (Wikipedia) -  There are 30 million Kurds without a state of their own.

There are over twenty Arab states throughout the Middle East and North Africa, but the world demands, in a chorus of barely disguised animosity towards Israel, that yet another Arab state be created within the mere forty miles separating the Mediterranean Sea and the River Jordan.

Israel, a territory no larger than the tiny principality of Wales or the state of New Jersey, would be forced to share this sliver of land with a new and hostile Arab entity to be called Palestine, while seeing its present narrow waist reduced to a mere and suicidal nine miles in width -- what an earlier Israeli statesman, Abba Eban, described as the Auschwitz borders.

Remember, there has never existed in all of recorded history an independent sovereign nation called Palestine -- and certainly not an Arab one.  The term "Palestine" has always been the name of a geographical territory, such as Siberia or Patagonia.  It has never been a state.

But there is a people who, like the Jews, deserves a homeland and truly can trace their ancestry back thousands of years.  They are the Kurds, and it is highly instructive to review their remarkable history in conjunction with that of the Jews.  It is also necessary to review the historical injustice imposed upon them over the centuries by hostile neighbors and empires.

HAMAS WAGES WAR GROSSLY VIOLATING INTERNATIONAL LAW - The world unfazed, continues to condemn Israel while watching Israel's every move

A rocket is fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza in November 2012
Hamas rocket being launched from Gaza

Human rights organizations and foreign governments seem oblivious to the blatant violation of human rights by Hamas terrorists.  Here is a partial list of their ongoing violations.

1. Hamas‘ rocket attacks directed at Israel‘s civilian population centers deliberately violates the basic principles of distinction. (Additional Protocol I, arts. 48, 51(2), 52(1).) Any doubt about this is resolved by the fact that Hamas itself has boasted of its intention to hit population centres. It is well accepted in customary international law that ―[i]ntentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking part in hostilities constitutes a war crime. (Rome Statute, art. 8(2)(b)(i))

2. Staging of Attacks From Residential Areas and Protected Sites: The Law of Armed Conflict not only prohibits targeting an enemy‘s civilians; it also requires parties to an armed conflict to distinguish their combatant forces from their own civilians, and not to base operations in or near civilian structures, especially protected sites such as schools, medical facilities and places of worship. As the customary law principle is reflected in Article 51(7) of Additional Protocol I: '―The presence or movements of the civilian population or individual civilians shall not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations, in particular attempts to shield military objectives from attacks or shield, favour or impede military operations."

PALESTINIAN TERROR, CORRUPTION AND OPPRESSION OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE expose the absurdity of the idea of another Palestinian state (in addition to Jordan) - Meanwhile Muslims all over the world prove their incapability to function as civilized societies

Hamas teaching naïve dreamers a Middle Eastern lesson

Op-ed: When majority of State of Israel is targeted by missiles fired by a terror organization which took over a territory, how can anyone consider giving Palestinians more independent land?

Once upon a time there was an ancient folktale, straight from Europe's black forests, named "The Two-State Fairytale" (its full name, "For Two States," is no longer mentioned), but last week this fairytale breathed its last under a barrage of missiles, stones and the conquests of the new Islamic caliphate.

Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade terrorists
'Moderate" Fatah Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade terrorists
The fairytale is interrupted by missiles. When the majority of Israel is being targeted by missiles fired by a terror organization which took over a territory, how can anyone consider giving the Palestinians more independent land?

Isn't it clear that no matter who rules this land, the terror will start launching missiles from there on Israel's cities, and this time from the center of the Land of Israel?

CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELE BACHMANN - ISRAEL - The land-for-peace format has never worked - REPUBLICAN PARTY has failed to recognize Islam's threat

Bachmann2011.jpgJuly 3, 2014  -  Breitbart News spoke with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN), candidate for president of the United States in 2012, about the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the Islamic State jihadist terror group, the Muslim Brotherhood, Putin’s Russia, America’s border security issues, and what her plans are following retirement in 2014.

Breitbart News: Tell us about House Resolution 622, a bill you introduced to suspend aid to the Palestinian Authority. Would you say this issue is more prevalent than ever considering the recent deaths of the three Israeli teenagers at the hands of Palestinian Hamas operatives?

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann:
The issue has gone on for a long period of time because many in the Palestinian government have done nothing but promote terrorist rhetoric, allow for terrorist actions, and carry out terroristic threats. We saw the most recent example in the kidnapping and murders of the three Jewish teenagers.

ISRAELI ARABS FIND ISRAEL A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE - THE FALSE CHARGE OF APARTHEID

Druze is a faction of Islam
JERUSALEM—An annual survey of Arabs in Israel directed by a Haifa University sociologist shows they are self-identifying as Israeli Arabs rather than as Palestinians in greater numbers and increasingly believe Israel is a good place to live.

According to the Israeli news website, Nana 10, a research team headed by Prof. Sammy Smooha found that 52.8 percent of the 700 Arabs polled in 2013 accepted Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish-majority state compared to 47.4 percent the year before. One of the major reasons for the breakdown in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority has been the Authority’s refusal to accept Israel’s demand that the Palestinians acknowledge Israel as a Jewish state.

The poll also found that 63.5 percent of Arabs in the country considered Israel “a good place to live.” This compares to 58.5 percent in 2012.

There was a substantial rise in the percentage of those who identified themselves as “Israeli Arabs” rather than as Palestinians, according to the poll results: from 32.5 percent in 2012 to 42.5 percent last year.

The violence afflicting neighboring countries as a result of the Arab Spring may have played a role in the increasingly positive attitude among Israeli Arabs towards Israel, which has remained remarkably stable among the turmoil.

ISRAELI SUPREME COURT JUSTICE - ARAB

Smooha has conducted an annual poll monitoring Arab-Jewish relations in Israel since 2003. The results sometimes show a wide disparity between general Arab opinion and that of the Arab political leadership in the country.

The latter, Smooha notes, adamantly opposes government proposals that Arab youths, who are exempt from military service, perform instead national service such as working in hospitals. National service is an option for Jewish youths who do not serve in the army for physical or conscientious reasons. While more than 70 percent of Arab youths and parents polled favored such a program, Smooha said, the political leadership feared a blurring of Arab identity and acceleration of the Israelization process among Arab youths.

The results of the Haifa University poll among Israeli Arabs echo the results of American-sponsored poll in 2011, carried out by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion in Bethlehem, which found that 35 percent of East Jerusalem Arabs, given the option of living in a Palestinian state or Israel, would choose Israel. Only 30 percent said they would prefer Palestine.

The remainder said they did not know or declined to answer. Those who preferred Israeli citizenship cited pragmatic matters such as better job opportunities, health care, welfare, unemployment payments, and overall stability.

    Historical irony

While 1940s Danes were outraged at collaboration with the Nazis, today's Danes have turned Palestinians - who closely collaborated with the Nazis - into their pet project.

    Today's Palestinians making Nazi salute
The Palestinian leader, Haj Amin Al Husseini,  the Mufti of Jerusalem, played a key role in the planning and implementation of the Final Solution that resulted in the torture and murder of six million Jews, and the killing of many other Europeans as well.

    Mufti of Jerusalem with Hitler

Husseini also created an SS Nazi Muslim Division that was guilty of gruesome killings in Eastern Europe.  But due to an "oversight" he was never tried as a war criminal at Nuremberg.  He was allowed to return to the Middle East to train a new generation with his Nazi ideology.

Two of his alumni were Yassir Arafat and the current president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas (or Abu Mazen), the financial mastermind of the Munich Olympics massacre of Israeli athletes.

Fast forward a few decades and you can see European countries agitating in favor of the Palestinians and continuing with their ancient tradition of demonizing Jews.  At the same time they finance the undermining of Israel.

Denmark has also joined the mob.

ARAB HACKERS ATTACK ISRAELI ORGANIZATION FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER

One of the primary targets of (the cyber) attack was Larger than Life, an NGO for children with cancer.

"The website of Larger than Life has been under attack from pro-Palestinian hackers for a week," Larger than Life wrote on its Facebook page several days after the attack began, "and every day they take down our site and plant different content – flags, a skull, symbols and all sorts of hate-related things."

"It is too bad that this is happening, of all places, to a website for an organization whose purpose is one of love, and assistance to every cancer stricken child under treatment in Israel, without differentiating on the basis of religion, race or nationality."

US PRESIDENT WANTS SPECIAL WAIVER FROM CONGRESS TO FUND UNITED NATIONS AGENCIES THAT RECOGNIZE PALESTINE

Allen West - April 2, 2014 - The Obama administration is requesting Congress allow it to support UN agencies that recognize and admit "Palestine" into the body.

Palestine is a region, like Appalachia, not a definitive country. It does not have an indigenous culture, currency, or language. If any ethnic group should have their own country, it should be the Kurds. With such an action, Obama administration would undermine Israel and support the establishment and recognition of Palestine, regardless of the security ramifications for Israel.

When the U.N. Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011 became the first U.N. body to recognize "Palestine," the Obama administration reluctantly cut the funding and UNESCO lost 22 percent of its operating budget.

This time, the administration has not included a funding request for UNESCO, but the fiscal year 2015 request includes "conditional transfer authority should the waiver be enacted." "The ability to make such contributions is essential to advancing U.S. interests worldwide and strengthening U.S. global leadership, influence, and credibility," says the Obama administration.
And how do US taxpayer funds to UNESCO advance our interests and strengthen our global leadership, influence, and credibility?

WHEN THE BRITISH BLAMED THE VICTIMS FOR THE MASSACRE OF JEWS BY ARABS IN 1920 - And how the modern notion that Israel has no right to self-defense became ingrained

The 1920 pogrom by Palestinian Arabs was perpetrated at a time when there was no independent Israel, no Arab refugees, no "occupation".   For four days Arabs burned homes, pillaged, and raped and massacred Jews in a most gruesome manner.  All that under the watchful eye of the British, who at that time occupied Palestine.

Jews were blamed.  And that became a pattern.  To this day Jews are blamed for Arab racism and atrocities.

The United States also subscribes to that notion, as their "mediation" efforts have been one-sided, pushing Israel to surrender while demanding nothing from the Arabs - because to the United States government the Jewish-Arab conflict is all Israel's fault.

    THE POSTULATE OF ISRAEL'S ILLEGITIMACY

    Sarah Honig
By Jerusalem Post writer Sarah Honig

Something strikingly dramatic happened in this country exactly on this date 94 years ago. Cries of Itbach el-Yahud(slaughter the Jews) filled the air. It was the first coordinated mass-murder offensive launched by infamous Jerusalem Mufti Haj-Amin el-Husseini (who would in time become an avid Nazi collaborator, Hitler’s personal guest in Berlin during WWII and a wanted war-criminal).

Ever since, this land shook fitfully as rounds of massacres and wars followed each other in breathless succession. The past mustn’t be consigned to irrelevance. Unbroken historical continuities contextualize current events. Nothing springs forth from a vacuum. What now transpires began back then.

The pivotal murder-drive of 1920 and its aftermath are vital for understanding why John Kerry’s peace pageant is a flop and why Israel so profoundly displeases him, his boss Barack Obama and their pet-Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas. It established the prototype whereby Jews are punished for Arab crimes against Jews. It highlights the pattern of appeasing Arab wrath and of Jews paying – as if Jewish existence is in and of itself a casus belli.

The bias maddeningly came into play already in 1920. It’s the bias that has today burgeoned into the escalating extortion and shameless expectation that Israel release convicted murderers as a matter of course  and injure its own interests to keep its enemies sweet. It’s as if Israel has no valid interests, no rights. This is the postulate of illegitimacy.

Western antipathy to Jewish self-preservation was already gallingly evident in 1920, as was indulgent acquiescence to Arab aggression. It’s scary to realize how little has actually changed.
Those deadly landmark rampages were kick started on April 4, 1920, exploiting Muslim celebrations to rally thousands of raiders at Nebi Musa in the Judean Desert.

Serially inflamed by Husseini’s vitriolic harangues, they poured into Jerusalem, descended upon the Old City’s Jewish Quarter and began butchering, raping, pillaging and burning – all in the name of their God.

The premeditated atrocity lasted four days. Even passing reflections on its overlooked anniversary (it’s so uncool to recall crimes against Jews), can contribute considerably to our present-day perspectives.

This unprovoked killing-spree was launched before any of the excuses for Arab bloodlust – now so conveniently and commonly cited – had existed. There was no Jewish state to fulminate against and no Israeli occupation with which to justify any outrage against Jews in the Jewish homeland.

There was no hint of what the Palestinians market so effectively as their nakba – catastrophe. There wasn’t a single Arab refugee. There was no war, no displacement, no reason to rage.

Jewish victims of the 1920 Nebi Musa Massacre- Jerusalem’s ancient community was deemed fair game
Jewish victims of the 1920 Nebi Musa Massacre- Jerusalem’s ancient community was deemed fair game
The 1920 victims were largely members of the old-time, traditional, pre-Zionist Jewish community that had long before then constituted Jerusalem’s outright majority. Yet this ancient community was deemed fair game. The subtext was that Jews have no rights – not even indigenous non-Zionists.

Considering  their penchant for distorting history, Israel’s detractors are doubtless tempted to describe 1920’s predators as oppressed Palestinian peasants protesting against usurper Jews. It must, therefore, be a whopping downer to discover that none of this homicidal fury was unleashed on behalf of Palestine. The Arabs loathed the very name introduced to this country by its new British overlords.

Ironically, it was the Jews who became known throughout the first half of the 20th century as Palestinians and it was the Arabs who scornfully rejected the moniker.

The Pogrom was perpetrated not in the name of "Palestine" but of Syria.

The executioners who swooped down on Jerusalem’s Jewish Quarter championed the cause of Greater Syria. On March 7, 1920 Britain crowned Feisal, a Hashemite princeling from today’s Saudi Arabia, as king in Damascus. By July that year the French would chuck him out. In response, London earmarked its latest invention, Iraq, for Feisal’s next monarchy. So much for the fictitious nature of Arab nationalities.

Feisal, incidentally, conferred with Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, on January 1919 and they produced the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement for Arab-Jewish Cooperation. Thereupon Faisal issued the following statement, which appears quite fantastic in view of all that ensued:

“We Arabs… look with the deepest sympathy on the Zionist movement… We will wish the Jews a most hearty welcome home… I look forward, and my people with me look forward, to a future in which we will help you and you will help us, so that the countries in which we are mutually interested may once again take their places in the community of the civilized peoples of the world.”

Nothing even minimally approaching such recognition can be expected nowadays of Abbas, who preposterously claims no less than 9000 years of “Palestinian” Arab history in this land and who denies any Jewish connection to it whatsoever.

But truth be told, Faisal failed miserably to enlist support for his pro-Jewish inclinations. Syria’s loyal enthusiasts right here were busy murdering Jews during Feisal’s brief reign as their king. They yearned to be ruled by Damascus – as Syrians, not Palestinians. It would serve to note that Husseini’s co-instigator of the Nebi Musa bloodbath was Aref Aref, significantly editor of the “Southern Syria” newspaper.

Most instructive in regard to Israel’s current international standing is the reaction in 1920 of the international community’s representative – Britain, claimant to the mandate to rule this land.

How did Britain respond to the Jerusalem pogrom?

Not unsurprisingly, as if by a magic wave of the mufti’s wand, His Majesty’s military units actually exited Jerusalem during the onslaught.

Top officers, like Allenby’s chief of staff, Col. Bertie Walters-Taylor trained and abetted the assailants. Inspired by him, British and Arab policemen even joined the rioters.

No wonder the mob howled deliriously: “A-Dawla ma’ana” – the government is with us. They knew whereof they screamed and their assessment of the government’s bias was spot on.  How little things have changed. The entire watching world still seethes with bias against this land’s Jews.

The double-standards and double-dealings of foreign onlookers, self-appointed judges and purported peacekeepers carry consequences. Foremost, they delegitimize Jewish self-defense. So it was and so it is.

Given British duplicity, what were the Jews to do back in 1920? Become accomplices to their own demise? Ze’ev Jabotinsky had begun organizing a rudimentary self-defense force, the Hagana. With too few fighters and too few weapons, it could barely contain the marauders.

The British blamed the Jews for the Arab pogrom and arrested Jewish leaders who dared to talk about defense.

But Perfidious Albion, standing for the family of nations, knew whom to blame and whom to go after. The Brits didn’t dare confront Husseini. They arrested Jabotinsky and 18 other Hagana members. They sentenced Jabotinsky to 15 years hard labor, which was later commuted to permanent exile. Jabotinsky was never again allowed to enter this country.

Why? Because Jewish self-defense was defamed as utter effrontery. Jews had no right to save their own lives.

It’s no different today when the rest of the world doesn’t hold Abbas accountable for impeding peace, for glorifying the murderers of Jewish children and for seeking to set these murderers loose.  It’s on the same moral plane as not holding Husseini accountable for blatantly and boastfully exhorting his adherents to slay Jews.

The underlying premise – both in 1920 and in 2014 – is that Jews may not defend themselves. It was clear-cut nearly a century ago. It’s disingenuously disguised now.

Nobody asks why 'moderate' Abbas glorifies terrorists.

Overseas, the de rigueur affectation is that Abbas aspires to liberate prisoners of conscience, persecuted altruists and vindictively incarcerated philosophers. Abbas is, after all, feted as the prince of moderation and nothing must challenge this conventional wisdom, even if Abbas routinely makes mass-murderers his objects of reverence.

Abbas cunningly postures as Israel’s guiltless casualty, as a saint on the side of the angels, indeed as the suppresser of terrorism rather than its devious promoter. He seeks to do the right thing – which he would sincerely do, were it not for those obstructionist Israelis.

In the enlightened vanguard of the global good-guy brigade, Abbas convinces willingly gullible saps of what they’re anyway predisposed to imbibe. The watching world voluntarily laps up his fabrications and hypes the deception.

If it weren’t so, liberals worldwide would ask why ostensibly moderate Abbas insists on springing the worst murderers.  Why are the bloodiest sadists upheld by his official propaganda as heroic role-models for the young generation?

Does this perhaps betray the fact that the Palestinians don’t genuinely desire coexistence but desire an existence without Jews? Are Palestinians telling their own children that the only good Jews are dead Jews?

By avoiding these questions, fellow democracies insult to our democracy and legal system. Our courts – autonomous like few others anywhere – deserve respect. Those whom Abbas wants released aren’t – contrary to impressions imparted by foreign media – “political prisoners,” locked up because of their beliefs and gallant advocacy of freedom.

These murderers were convicted after eminently fair trials with all the breaks of due process. They were granted legal representation replete with rights habitually denied defendants in Arab and Muslim countries, where instant kangaroo-court rulings are the norm.

By blithely disregarding all this, the world disparages Israel’s pedantic and ultra-liberal jurisprudence.

All Israelis – especially those on the Left, who miss no pretext to resort to Israel’s famous judicial interventionism – ought to be offended to the core by such insolence. It’s unthinkable that our courts would be relied upon only when it suits an expedient agenda but that their decisions would be dishonored when it’s so dictated by diplomatic exigencies.

Moreover, if even verdicts imposed by our courts on unrepentant genocidal murderers can be set aside, how at all are we to defend ourselves?

The world-imposed self-defense rules that apply to Israel only

Israel’s military might is verboten because it’s, alas, “disproportionate force.” Pinpointed targeting of individual terror-mongers, like Ahmed Yassin, are likewise prohibited by unique rules applied to Israel alone.  Assassination, we’re sanctimoniously reminded, is so not-nice. Finally, when on occasion some individual murderers are captured, tried and put behind bars, self-professed humanitarians decry this too as unsavory.

What’s left? No fighting back, no surgical strikes, no prosecution or imprisonment. Nothing. The bottom line is that anything we do to protect ourselves is illegitimate. This perception, not inadvertently, meshes with Abbas’s contention that a Jewish state is illegitimate.

The inherent illegitimacy of the Jewish state makes Jewish self-defense illegitimate. We may be attacked but we may not react. This is how it was in 1920. This is still how it is.

WHITE HOUSE SAYS PALESTINIANS DESERVE A STATE - SO WHAT HAVE THE PALETINIANS DONE FOR THE USA?

     By  Fresno Zionism Website

Put simply, Palestinians deserve a state of their own.Barack Obama, March 21, 2013

Here I go again. But this time I do not intend to discuss all the reasons that a Palestinian state carved out of the historic homeland of the Jewish people would be a bad thing for what would be left of Israel.  No, today I want to talk about what the Palestinian Arabs have done for America — and what a Palestinian state might do.

U.S. TAXPAYERS UNKOWINGLY FUNDING CHRISTIAN ANTI-ISRAEL GROUP - WHILE CHRISTIANS ARE MURDERED IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES

A great deal can be written about the anti-Israel affiliations of its sponsors and the participation of left-wing Western – and in particular, left-leaning evangelical – Christians.   But a group called NGO Monitor has pointed out what I want to highlight, which is that the U.S. taxpayer is contributing to CatC, if perhaps indirectly, through grants from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The NED receives funding from Congress, and between 2006 and 2012, it made grants in excess of $230,000 to the Holy Land Trust.

Checkpoints?  What about these humiliating checkpoints?

Long lines at US airports, with degrading gropings and pat-downs and confiscation of personal objects that do not represent any threat to anyone.

And what precipitated this and other abuses against people's dignity and freedom in the US and in other countries in the Western world?  Try to remember - Muslim terror.

But the European and American governments - oblivious to this - are pressing hard for the creation of another Muslim state (in addition to Jordan) on Jewish land - which will certainly represent reduced access to sacred sites for Christian visitors, and increased persecution of Arab Christians living in the new state.

But the anti-Semitic left complains about checkpoints in Israel, where thousands of men, women and children have been murdered by Arab "freedom fighters".  They also complain about the wall that protects Jews from Arab snipers, who murdered babies in Jewish towns now protected by that wall.

    2005:  West Bank Security Fence
From September 2000 to mid-2005, hundreds of Palestinian suicide bombings and terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians killed more nearly 1,000 innocent people and wounded thousands of others. In response, Israel's government decided to construct a security fence that would run near the “Green Line” between Israel and the West Bank to prevent Palestinian terrorists from easily infiltrating into Israel proper. The project had the overwhelming support of the Israeli public and was deemed legal by Israel's Supreme Court.

Israel's fence garnered international condemnation, but the outrage is a clear double standard - there is nothing new about the construction of a security fence. Many nations have fences to protect their borders - the United States, for example, has one to prevent illegal immigration. In fact, when the West Bank fence was approved, Israel had already built a fence surrounding the Gaza Strip that had worked - not a single suicide bomber has managed to cross Israel's border with Gaza.

OPEN LETTER FROM IRAQI JEW TO THE CHURCH: NO, ARABS DID NOT LIVE IN HARMONY WITH JEWS. THEY PERSECUTED AND MURDERED JEWS

The following letter is addressed to the Presbyterian Church, but the concepts also apply to the historically and still wickedly anti-Semitic Catholic Church.

Open Letter to the Presbyterian Church

By Joe Samuels, a former Iraqi Jew

Some of your members, under the banner of human rights, have demonized one country. According to them, the one country that destabilizes the Middle East and creates much pain and suffering to the Arab world, is not Iran, Syria, or Lebanon. It is Israel.  They believe the root of the problem is Zionism and the return of the Jews to Israel.

Your group has just published a booklet entitled “Zionism Unsettled”. The booklet claims that if it weren’t for the Zionist movement that established Israel, the Jews from Arab lands would still be living in peace and harmony among the Arab nations.

I quote from your from Page 48 of “Zionism Unsettled”:

Middle eastern Jews, also called Mizrahi Jews, share a history of largely harmonious integration and acculturation in their host countries. Sadly, this model of coexistence was destabilized by the regional penetration of Zionism beginning in the late 19th century.

My Arabic name is Yusuf. I was born in the Jewish quarter of the old city of Baghdad known as “Taht El Takia” in December of 1930. I am now 83 years old. My mother tongue is Arabic and I am one those Jews who was integrated in the Arabic Islamic culture of Iraq.

Here are some examples of how us Arab Jews lived in harmony with our hosts:

I survived the Farhud of 1941 — a violent “pogrom” when Iraqi Muslims, incited by Nazi Germany, took to the streets, destroyed the Jewish quarter and killed 180 Jewish men, women and children.  I was 11 years old. Google Farhud or read Edwin Black’s book “The Farhud”.

The cause of the Farhud, wasn’t  Zionism. The Farhud was purely an anti-Jewish act

ETHNIC GERMANS DEMAND THE USA PARTITION TO HAVE ANOTHER HOMELAND OF THEIR OWN - SATIRE

    Satire by Eve Zwgstkstwig
    April First Daily Blog

I was heading out to walk my dog the other day when I met my next door neighbor Adolf shoveling snow.  He was sweating and grumbling to himself, but his face brightened when he saw me.

I have great news to tell you, he said.  Do you have a minute?

Well certainly, I replied, although Daisy was pulling at her leash impatient to get moving.

I have been thinking, said Adolf, leaning on his shovel.  I was at the club the other day and I said to the guys, Why shouldn't we, Americans of German descent, have a homeland of our own here in America?  Now, wait, don't look so shocked.  I have perfectly good arguments solidly backed by American policy and the president's statements.

Look, he said, we were a majority when the United States of America gained its independence.  There were so many of  us, in fact, that the Fathers of this nation even considered making German our official language.  We lost that chance, sure, but not our right to demand a country of our own, particularly now that those Mexicans want to take over everything.

What makes you think you'd be taken seriously? I asked, out of politeness to show some interest.

Lots, he said.  My pals and I have looked for recent precedents and there are oodles of them.  The Crimeans, the South Sudanese, to name just two. The Quebecois are itchy to part company with Canada.

And then there are the Palestinians, he added with emphasis.  A major example.  They arrived in the area centuries ago with invaders from the Arabian peninsula, and that puts them right on a parallel situation with us.  We too arrived with a horde of invaders, and by right or might, we stayed and now this is the United States of America, and not the Aboriginal Union or any other nonsense like that.

Well, that's true, I admitted.  The original inhabitants just had to retreat and accept our mightier modes of persuasion.

    Exactly!

But they eventually signed peace treaties, didn't they?

Those treaties were all crooked, said Adolf.  The truth is that the Indians never had a chance.

So what does this have to do with a German homeland, Adolf? I asked.

Simple:  we are a people, with our own language and ethnic origin.  Our own delicate cuisine.  Our own culture.  Don't you agree?

    Well, yes, I...

Exactly.  So we demand a homeland in America.  We demand partition.

But you already have other German speaking countries with a German population, like Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Austria, and Germany itself.  Isn't that enough?

Absolutely not!  Take the Arabs. They have 22 countries.  Huge countries.  We're not talking about something the size of Luxemburg over there.  But if they're determined to demand a 23rd country, why not?  They have the numbers and friends in high places, don't they?  The fact that we German-Americans have other countries has absolutely nothing to do with our right to demand another homeland.

And when you think about it, said Adolf with a little smile, the UN has a majority that hate the United States and would love to certify us as an independent country carved out of the old USA.  You think that it's only Israel that's unpopular?  Hah! The US runs a close second in unpopularity rating.  We're worse than North Korea, in their estimation.

By this time Daisy was barking desperately to get on with her stroll on the snow.  So many trees to sniff.

And look - said Adolf, with a satisfied look on his face - the whole world agrees with the idea of partitioning Israel to make room for another Arab country.  The president has made it his top priority to achieve that partition before the end of his administration.  Even the Israeli prime minister talks about "two states for two peoples", the poor fellow.  Who knows what they've done to him to make him say that.  Anyway, hardly anyone disagrees with partition except those wild-eyed extremists who think that history and international law have any value.  And who listens to them, anyway.  That's what Arab persistence and a little terror on the side can achieve, added Adolf with a glint in his eyes.

I didn't like the turn this conversation was taking, so I asked, What's wrong with being an American, Adolf?  Don't you like it?

I told you already - said Adolf, raising his voice -  what with all those Mexicans and Africans and all those other kinds in here ...  We need to rule ourselves.  As far as I am concerned we - the original German population of the country - are being occupied by Anglos, Hispanics, Afro-Americans, Indians, Chinese,  Italians,  and every ethnicity that can walk, fly, or sail into this country.    It's OCCUPATION! - Adolf shouted excitedly.

Daisy started to bark at Adolf while Adolf grabbed his shovel and seemed ready to start his revolution.  I rushed over to the park as fast as the crunching snow allowed me to.

I only looked back once, and saw a German flag hanging listlessly from Adolf's balcony.
