The VERY odd couple: A young elephant seal pup and a penguin chick look like good friends sharing a joke 
While on holidays, French Canadian teacher Jean-Francois Hic took these photos of a Gentoo penguin and his buddy, the elephant seal.  The images were taken on Livingston Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula

  • Pensioner Joao Pereira de Souza, 71, discovered dying penguin on beach
  • He nursed creature, which was covered in oil, back to health at his home
  • Mr de Souza named the creature Dindim and released him back into wild
  • Dindim goes off to breed but always returns to stay at Mr de Souza's home

  • Retired bricklayer and part time fisherman Joao Pereira de Souza, 71, from an island village just outside Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, discovered the tiny penguin languishing on rocks in 2011 covered in oil
    This incredible video shows the touching relationship between a penguin and the Brazilian man who rescued him from certain death.

    You thought they were all cute and adorable, until you saw this penguin:
    Snack attack: A member of National Geographic's Your Shot community captured this photo with a GoPro on Antarctica's sea ice. 'I studied the movements of the penguins for weeks,' Berry writes. 'They walked in the same area almost every day. We would get maybe a dozen or less going by. The day this was taken there were over 60 penguins. It was a bit of luck involved too.'

    A playful horse cosies up with this lonely penguin in this series of heart-warming pictures taken by Sarah Crofts
    Touching moment herd of horses adopt a penguin after the bird became separated from its group and began to play with them

    Nuzzling up together on the frosty ground in the Falkland Islands, this might seem like the most unlikely of friendships.  But this herd of horses took in a lonely penguin as one of their own and snuggled up with their curious new companion.

    PENGUIN WALKS INTO A HOTEL - But he did not have a reservation, so he was gently asked to leave - It happened in Cape Town, South Africa.

    The bold bird manages to evade staff at the Boulders Beach Lodge and Restaurant, near Cape Town, to the delight of guestsPenguin walks into a hotel... much to the delight of the guests who fawn over it before he is gently shooed out with a broom  

  • African penguin was part of colony that live just 70 metres from hotel
  • Staff at Boulders Beach Lodge and Restaurant say guests love their visits
  • Species also known as Jackass penguin for unique donkey-like call 
  •
