The results of the West's instigated "Arab Spring" have left the Middle East in much worse conditions than it was before it was unleashed.
Syrian children drink water from a pump on October 28, 2014 in Douma, as the UN health body said it is launching a campaign in Syria in a bid to help people ...

In Syria:
  • Cases of myiasis or flesh-eating maggot disease in Syria.
  • Also rising cases of polio
  • Tuberculosis, typhoid, and scabies are now endemic
  • Hygienic and sanitary conditions are significantly substandard
  • The conflict has killed 195,000 Syrians.
  • Oxfam accuses the US of failing to fund humanitarian aid to Syrians in need.
  • Britain also under fire for only providing meager aid to Syrians.
  • An estimated 9 million Syrian refugees have fled their homes since the start of the Arab Spring and as a result of the conflict that has raged since.
  • In the meantime humanitarian aid continues to pour in disproportionate numbers on Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
  • Palestinians are the largest recipients of international aid PER CAPITA in the world (see figures at bottom of page).
Three cases of myiasis have been reported near Damascus, marking the first appearance of the flesh-eating maggot disease in Syria, UN health experts said Friday.

Myiasis, an affliction caused when flies lay their eggs in wounds, is not lethal for humans, but its appearance says a lot about worsening living conditions in war-ravaged Syria, the World Health Organization said.

HISTORIAN DOMINIC SANDBROOK BEMOANS WESTERN ISOLATIONISM - But he fails to note that given Western leadership's shortcomings, it may be safer for the world to have them play at the beach and the golf course. Not everyone can be a Churchill, and those who fall short can make things worse by intervening

The Daily Mail has published a couple of articles by British historian Dominic Sandbrook.
President George W Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair were reckless to topple Saddam Hussein without having any apparent idea what to do with a post-Saddam Iraq
Bush and Blair - Their legacy

Sandbrook analyses the current volatile situation in several hot spots in the world.  But he misreads history, as when he defends the creation of the state of Kosovo, for example, and completely avoids the issue of Western relentless pressuring for the partition of Israel.

He, as a historian, should know better.  The moment Israel ceases to control Judea and Samaria (the west bank of the Jordan river), all hell will break loose.

A sovereign state of Palestine would immediately ally itself with some regional major power and launch a terror campaign against Israel that would make Gazan rockets and terror tunnels look like child's play.  At the same time, the new Palestinian state would disintegrate into bloody factional war.

Sandbrook should understand that part of wisdom is to know when to intervene, and when to leave things alone.

In the case of Israel, the world should leave Jews and Arabs to sort things out.  US intervention for "peace," as they call it, has only brought increased Arab terror with no peace on the horizon because the two sides are irreconcilable.

Palestinians want a Middle East with no Jews, and Israel wants to survive.  There is no middle ground.  Partition would only be another stage in the process of dismantling Israel.

Remember that Israel left Gaza only to see it turn into a terror statelet.  And it left the Sinai, which is now overrun by jihadis.  Without Judea and Samaria Israel would find itself with less land and more terror.  No international security arrangements that could protect Israel at that point.

Much less after the lesson of the last few weeks when we witnessed a genocide taking place in Iraq, while our leaders were on vacation.  They considered placing boots on the ground far more objectionable than allowing thousands of helpless Christians and Yazidis to be slaughtered by Muslim ISIS.

Were Israelis to find themselves victimized in similar manner, the world would indolently watch another Holocaust and do nothing.

Sandbrook also laments how the West failed to foster democracy in the Middle East.  This is patently absurd.  Islam and democracy are incompatible.  A true follower of Islam is expected to obey Sharia Law, which leaves absolutely no room for any notion of Western democracy and basic human rights.

Most importantly, what Dominic Sandbrook also fails to take into account is that given the quality of Western leadership, it is a good thing that they are spending time playing at the beach and at the golf course.  There is no limit to how much damage these gentlemen can do if they get really serious about changing the world.  The Arab Spring disaster is proof enough of how much harm they can do even when they use a light touch.

Following are two articles by Dominic Sandbrook.  The first was written on August 16, and the second one on August 23.

The world’s not been this dangerous for 30 years and the West’s arrogance is to blame

THE BITTER TRUTH - MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES ARE UNGOVERNABLE UNLESS KEPT UNDER TIGHT CONTROL BY A TYRANT - So why does the world keep calling for a state for the Palestinian Arabs - who are afflicted by fractious, undisciplined, corrrupt, utterly hateful and violent sectors of society?

When will the West admit that it has been wrong all along in its illusion that Islamic societies can be politically and socially transformed, and forced to love freedom, tolerance, respect for the law, democracy and human rights?

Wishful thinking, money, and sometimes Western invading armies have been useless when trying to influence societies that are entrenched in traditions thousands of years old.

Stephen Glover of The Daily Mail has the courage to admit it openly:  There are no good guys to run those countries.  They were better off with their old tyrants than with the violent chaos unleashed by regime change.  Mr Glover, however, stops short of mentioning the Palestinians.

Why is it that the West considers terror objectionable -  unless it is used by Palestinians to kill Jews, and then it becomes an act by 'militants' or 'freedom fighters' in their quest for independence?

Photo above shows Palestinians in their habitual explosions of rage and destruction.  There is not even an inkling that this society can rule itself in the foreseeable future.  If it ever attains sovereignty it cannot even sustain itself economically.  Regional superpowers will use them as pawns to disrupt the region, to wreak havoc with adversaries, and to destroy Israel, the only island of democracy in a region gone berserk.

I’m afraid the bitter truth is Iraq and Libya were better off under the tyrants toppled by an arrogant and naive West

By Stephen Glover for The Daily Mail

The tragic events in Gaza and Ukraine may be dominating the news, but even more terrible things are happening in Libya and Iraq. In both cases a naive and stupendously ill-conceived Western foreign policy is almost entirely to blame.

Many western embassies in Tripoli, including America’s, have closed, with diplomats deserting the city as fast as their legs will carry them, leaving the Libyans to their fate. Britain retains only a reduced embassy staff.

Meanwhile, in the north of Iraq — a country allegedly delivered into freedom from Saddam Hussein in 2003 — a psychopathic organisation called Islamic State (previously known as ISIS) is executing thousands of Shia Muslims and Christians as the central government in Baghdad looks on, powerless to intervene.

The persecution of Christians

The largely untold story of the persecuted Iraqi Christian minority is especially shaming for those avowedly Christian leaders, George W. Bush and Tony Blair, who were responsible for the invasion of Iraq. For however revolting Saddam Hussein may have been, he did at least tolerate Iraq’s Christian community, which at one time was almost 1.5 million-strong. In the years following the invasion, the number of Christians dwindled to 300,000.
