Key points
  • It's not just a nuclear war we should fear in the Middle East.  Iran is in a geological unstable area prone to severe earthquakes, which could cause a nuclear accident.
  • There is also the possibility of a takeover by the most deranged fringes of Islam, such as ISIS, which would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons against the West or ME neighbors.
  • And the ever present threat of rogue Muslim groups acquiring nuclear weapons through purchase or theft.  The more countries with nukes, the greater the danger.
  • On the following article read how the head of state-affiliated Saudi TV channel reveals that Saudi Arabia will 'seriously try to get' nuclear weapons following the Iran deal.
  • Saudi Arabia has signed nuclear deals with France, Russia and South Korea in preparation of building its own nuclear facilities.
  • The fact that Iran won't allow inspectors at its military facilities set a precedent for Saudi Arabia and other countries interested in developing nuclear weapons.
  • Acknowledging the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East John Kerry offered the Saudis protection under a US nuclear umbrella.   This offer does not carry much weight considering the ever shrinking US government credibility and influence in the Middle East.
  • Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shi'ite Iran have long been key rivals vying for influence in the region.

While US President Barack Obama claimed he prevented a nuclear arms race in the Middle East when he presented the Iran deal last Tuesday, a key source in Saudi Arabia laid bare that claim by expressing the country's sense of urgency to acquire its own nuclear weapon.

Louisiana U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R) says the State Department has reversed its interpretation of a law that would ban Iranian students from studying advanced courses in the United States with content related to the development of nuclear capabilities.

In a press release Monday, Vitter’s office announced he is questioning the State Department on the policy to allow Iranian students to study nuclear engineering at the same time the U.S. still has economic sanctions on Iran while a nuclear agreement has yet to be resolved.

“The State Department’s position allowing Iranians to study nuclear science in the U.S. is extremely concerning, and we need some answers immediately,” Vitter said.

“We currently have strict sanctions on Iran because of their nuclear threat – so training Iranians in the nuclear field at taxpayer funded U.S. colleges doesn’t add up. Universities shouldn’t be forced to make national security decisions – that’s the job of the Administration.”

Hossein Salami

A credible U.S. military option against Iran is off the table and something the Obama administration can “no longer even think about,” according to one of Iran’s top military leaders, who claimed in a wide-ranging interview that Iran has deployed advanced missiles and satellites capable of tracking foreign militaries.

Hossein Salami, the deputy commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), scoffed at the Obama administration’s insistence that a credible military option exists against Iran and discussed the Islamic Republic’s offensive military capabilities during a wide-ranging interview on Iranian state-run television.

On the heels of another deal with Iran that extends talks with Western powers over the country’s contested nuclear program through July 2015, Salami accused the United States of bluffing about the threat of military action against Tehran.

“We have denied our enemy any military option,” Salami said in an interview on Iranian television just days after the Nov. 24 extension in talks was announced. “The enemy can no longer even think about a military option.”

RUSSIA TO BUILD TWO MORE NUCLEAR REACTORS FOR IRAN, while the White House enables Iran to build centrifuges and sells $11 BILLION in weapons to Qatar, a country said to be arming and financing ISIS and Hamas - But the US and the world demand Israel's partition "to bring peace" to the region.

A particularly sensitive is Iran’s ability to enrich uranium, which Tehran argues is needed to power Bushehr but Israel and Western powers fear will be used to make an atomic bomb.

Moscow nuclear agency confirms deal to construct 1,000 megawatt plants, driving number of facilities to eight.  Russia signed a deal with Iran to build two new nuclear reactors and agreed to expand the total number of Russian reactors in the country to eight, the state nuclear agency Rosatom said.

A series of agreements, signed during a visit to Moscow by Iran’s nuclear program chief Ali Akbar Salehi, includes a contract for two new reactors at the existing Russia-built Bushehr plant.
