CITY OF LONDON CORPORATION

There is a tiny mini-state within the city of London. It is known as The Square Mile, and as The City of London Corporation.
It is a semi-autonomous state, administered by a Lord Mayor. He is not the same as the Mayor of London in charge of the large metropolitan area.
It was founded by the Romans, and later given sovereign status by William the Conqueror.
The City of London Corporation is beyond the authority of the British Parliament.
The two Londons have separate city halls, laws, flags, police forces, and tax and electoral systems. Here corporations have the right to vote.
The City of London Corporation hosts dozens of national and international banks, and is enormously wealthy, with financial tentacles reaching all points of the planet.
It is at the center of a secretive financial network.
It is a tax haven laundering dirty cash from national and international criminals, with no outside oversight and with complete impunity. All this within the metropolitan city of London.
