Animals sense upcoming catastrophes and this very intelligent hawk, perhaps with some physical injury, thought the best way to hunker  down during Hurricane Harvey was in a cozy place, such as William Brusso's taxi cab, and then his home.  Brusso is an animal lover, so this bird may have sensed he was the kind of person to ask for help.
William Bruso filmed the moment a hawk wouldn't budge from his taxi cab as Hurricane Harvey barreled towards Houston, Texas on Friday

Take cover! The moment a hawk flew into a taxi and refused to get out as hurricane Harvey barreled towards Texas

  • William Bruso was buying food before Hurricane Harvey hit Houston on Friday
  • He returned to his taxi cab and a hawk jumped into the passenger seat
  • Bruso said the bird looked scared with its wings tucked close to its side
  • The man filmed the strange interaction and posted the video to Facebook
  • Bruso named the animal Harvey the Hurricane Hawk and kept it at his home
  • The Houston man handed the bird over to Texas Wildlife Rescue Center Saturday

  • A man filmed the moment a hawk wouldn't budge from his taxi cab as Hurricane Harvey barreled towards Texas.  As thousands evacuated the Houston area ahead of the Category 4 hurricane and others hunkered down, one hawk sought refuge in a car in Houston on Friday.

In the aftermath of the devastating floods that hit southern Louisiana this week, residents have started to rebuild their homes, which were left severely damaged following the storms.

At least 13 people died in the flooding that swept through parts of Louisiana after torrential rains lashed the region over the last week. Approximately 40,000 homes were damaged by the floods, while 4,000 people still remain in shelters.

Clean-up is beginning in states across the county after 'life-threatening' storm Jonas battered the East Coast on Saturday

  • New York City is opening up subways, mass transit and roadways after closing and shutting down the systems to deal with the massive snowfall, which accounted for the second biggest blizzard the city has seen since 1869
  • The storm dumped up to 40 inches of snow in some areas with one in seven Americans seeing half-a-foot of snow by Sunday
  • Twenty-one people have been killed nationwide in weather-related accidents, according to police departments
  • Devastating coastal flooding in New Jersey caused by the storm is expected to continue as a result of the tides brought about by the full moon

DEVASTATING FLOODS IN BRITAIN, DEADLY TORNADOES IN THE US, FIRES IN AUSTRALIA - This is how 2015 ends - BRITISH GOVERNMENT does not protect its own people from floods, but sends BILLIONS in aid to corrupt and violent countries

Misery for the residents of towns swamped by flooding - but Britain still sends £1BILLION in aid to the world's most corrupt nations
  • There was outrage last night over Britain squandering cash on foreign aid
  • Around £12bn a year is spent on overseas aid, much on anti-flood schemes
  • This includes £1billion to 20 most corrupt nations, such as North Korea
  • Flood-hit residents said money should be spent on those who earned it
  • British aid to the world's most corrupt countries hit record levels last year, despite fears much of it could be squandered, stolen or even diverted to terror groups
  • PM Cameron blames climate change for the disasters, evading blame on government ineptitude.

  • Dozens of homes were submerged in floodwater in York, as shown by these incredible aerial photographs - residents remain philosophical about the situation
Streets in the city of York completely under water.  No money for the protection of the city.  In the meantime, Britain sends billions to corrupt governments, to burnish UK's image or perhaps in some cases to make those governments more welcoming to British business.

Image result for book review forty signs of rainAbout ten years ago science fiction writer Kim Stanley Robinson published his trilogy "Forty Signs of Rain," "Fifty Degrees Below," and "Sixty Days and Counting".

On these novels he describes the chaotic effects of abrupt planet cooling in the city of Washington DC.  There are floods, freezing temperatures, and escaped zoo animals on the loose.   Animals adapt.  So do people.  These books are intelligent and thrilling.   They are fun to read.

    Reality is something else altogether.

The plight of enslaved, caged animals in zoos

Unfortunately many of them are in even greater danger in the wild, due to human cruelty and greed.

Tbilisi, Georgia - Hundreds of animals have been killed or have disappeared as a result of a massive river flood that caught the city by surprise.  Some animals have been murdered by authorities to prevent them from attacking the human population.  A few large carnivores are still on the loose, and only yesterday a man was attacked by a hungry white tiger.

Apocalyptic: A tranquilized hippo is pushed along the street in Tbilisi after escaping from the zoo during flash floods in the Georgian capital which allowed dozens of wild animals to run amok across the city

THE BIG FREEZE OF 2015 WAS A DUD - Forecasters WRONG about the anticipated "worst snowstorm in history" - If they can't get a 24 hour forecast right, how can they be so sure about long term predictions for Earth's climate?

North East coast of America went into unprecedented lockdown: Road and train travel banned and businesses closed as 60million people warned to stay indoors today in anticipation of deadly blizzard

But not much happened.  Just normal winter weather.  What kind of credibility can long term climate forecasters have when they can't be right on even a 24 hour forecast?

Getting ready for an erroneous forecast:
    US

A fifth of U.S. population told to stay inside from fear of huge winter storm which could bury East Coast in snow

Imagine the cost for all these unnecessary preparations:
  • Driving bans, threats of arrest, canceled planes, closed railways and metro systems and tunnels froze giant cities
  • Boston and New York City were in the heart of the driving snows, which forecasters say could smash records
  • 8,000 flights to the North East were axed, while subway systems and railroads went dark Monday evening
  • Bans, backed by threats of arrests and fines of up to $500, kept people home and shut down 24-hour businesses

  • What they predicted:
  • Peak snowfall could bring more than four inches per hour, with highs of 36inches in some places
  • Mighty waves and flood waters also threaten coastal communities, with most intense weather still to come

  • Empty seats, empty streets: Broadway and the theater district of the Big Apple was closed for the evening as the huge blizzard hit the United States Eastern seaboard
