Dolphins become mesmerized by two squirrels at Sea World
An adorable video shows the moment four dolphins were completely mesmerized by two squirrels at Sea World. A Sea World employee was on break and taking a walk through the park when she passed by the dolphin nursery. 'They are normally very playful and interactive and a couple came by to say hello,' the park worker said. But in the sweet video, the two squirrels came over and appeared to be looking for food outside of the dolphin's nursery. The dolphins quickly became amazed at the two squirrels and followed their every move.

ARE DOLPHINS PSYCHIC? THEY BEHAVE AS IF THEY HAD A 'COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS' - Dolphins seem to sense when swimmers become stranded and go to their rescue - Dolphins saved girl from suicide - And yet, JAPAN and other countries continue to MASSACRE DOLPHINS EVERY YEAR - WATCH VIDEO

Ms Casey explained dolphins may behave towards humans the same way they do towards one another. 'In other words, dolphins do not always differentiate between us and them' she said. Dolphins have even been known to bring fish and other 'gifts' to humans which feed them
Are dolphins psychic? Their complex social intelligence suggests the animals may share a 'collective consciousness'
  • Dolphin intelligence is a feature in Susan Casey's book Voices in the Ocean
  • Their limbic system, involved with controlling emotions, is larger than ours
  • Dolphins have been known to 'sense' when swimmers have become stranded and gone to their rescue, even if they are miles away
  • Most scientists choose to remain skeptical about animal intelligence for self-serving reasons.  Although they swear their dogs and cats are impressively smart, at least as clever as a small human child, they dismiss other animals as dumb creatures to justify the horrific torture animals endure at the hands of experimental scientists in labs all over the world.
  • Tales of dolphins befriending humans (stock image) are said to date back as far as AD 77 when Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder recounted a story about a dolphin who formed a bond with a boy who fed him bread. Aristotle even wrote offhandedly about the dolphins' 'passionate attachment to boys'

DOLPHINS MAY HAVE SAVED GIRL FROM SUICIDE - They formed ring around her and guided boat to her aid

  • Dolphins off the coast of Los Angeles guided scientists to the struggling girl, who were then able to get her to hospital where she made a full recovery
  • The animals suddenly left a feeding session to come to her aid, according to an extract from biologist Maddalena Bearzi's book

CRIMEAN MILITARY DOLPHINS DEFECT TO RUSSIA

Ukraine’s secret unit of spy DOLPHINS that can plant bombs and attack divers with guns have defected to Russia
    • The Ukraine Army has been using dolphins and seals since the 70s
    • After the fall of the USSR, the 'dolphin spies' remained in the Ukraine
    • The dolphins have been trained to hunt for mines and plant bombs
    • They can also attack divers with knives or pistols attached to their heads
    • Now, military dolphins in Crimea will be transferred to the Russian Navy
    BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN Wikipedia
The use of bottlenose dolphins as naval assets was begun during the Cold War in Sevastopol by the Soviet Union in 1973. With the collapse of the USSR, they were enlisted in the Ukrainian navy.

Now after the Russian repossession of the Crimean peninsula this month, it was revealed today that the combat dolphins are now back under Kremlin control along with all 193 military units in the region.

DOLPHIN ACTIVIST AND "THE COVE" FILM MAKER MARTYN STEWART DETAINED AT JAPAN AIRPORT AND ACCUSED OF ECO-TERRORISM - THEN DEPORTED

BBC filmmaker Martyn Stewart who documents the bloody dolphin hunts in Taiji ("The Cove") was locked up at Osaka airport  accused of being an ‘eco-terrorist’.

Stewart, who films documentaries about the dolphin hunts in Taiji, said his conditions and the way he has been treated was ‘nothing short of criminal’.  He posted on his Facebook account: “I am locked in a cell room at Osaka airport waiting on an appeal to the high minister regarding my entry into Japan.   I’m accused of being sea shepherd and an eco terrorist. My footage is not liked in Japan apparently and have been accused of assaulting members of the public.  In 4 years of being here for the dolphins I have maintained the law and abided by their rules. My words and pictures did the rest. The government of Japan will do anything to protect the rights of the fishermen of Taiji and the barbaric treatment of the animals involved.  Please share far and wide to bring awareness to this corrupt government and those that want to continue to brutally treat these amazing animals.”

Stewart has visited Japan several times to film the dolphin hunts in Taiji where hundreds of animals are wrestled into nets. Some are killed for meat, others are trapped and sold to aquariums.  Japanese fisherman say the annual hunt is part of their culture.

Writing on his blog last year, he said: “What I learnt from these visits was that we (westerners) cannot stop this war on the oceans. Japan and most of its people have to end this and in some way, make them believe it was their idea. Pressure from outsiders only gets their goat and they become stubborn. I got the impression that if you tell the fishermen to end this atrocity, they tried harder to kill. They are now actually being blasé about the capturing and killing. Yes, tarpaulin is still being used heavily but they are not as vigilant in stopping people from seeing the odd dead dolphin or tail draped outside of the boats that carry the corpses to the butcher house anymore.”

LARGE NUMBERS OF WHALES, DOLPHINS AND OTHER MARINE LIFE KILLED AND INJURED BY U.S. SONAR AND WEAPONS TESTING

The United States reports these tests. There are many other nations that keep them secret.  So this massive attack on ocean life is much greater than reported.

ACTIVIST POST - Not only have whales been showing up dead with dozens of pounds of toxic, plastic waste inside their stomachs, the U.S Navy plans to raise the death toll by conducting underwater testing of explosive weapons and sonar devices. Tests will be and are taking place in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, including the Gulf of Mexico.

According to Greenpeace, government estimates are calculated at 138,500 whales and dolphins will be injured or killed.

These events are set to commence and take place from 2014 through 2019. The title is not an exaggeration, depending on the vicinity of the animals, detonating these explosives underwatermwill kill whales and dolphins and injure many, according to two environmental impact statements released by the military.

Keep in mind, these events have been occurring for a number of years, and are responsible for the death of large amounts of marine life.
The Navy is not denying these facts. They have admitted that most of the deaths would come from detonation of explosives, sonar testing or animals being hit by ships. Although I do not trust Navy estimates, according to their computer models this activity could kill hundreds of whales. The Navy said it developed the estimates by totaling the hours it will test and practice with sonar, torpedoes, missiles, explosives and other equipment for five years. This testing will be (and already has been) responsible for the death of thousands.

Take action by sending an email to The Honorable Charles T. Hagel, U.S. Secretary of Defense. You can email him at charles.t.hagel.mil@mail.mil. Feel free to use this sample letter provided by PETA.

There are also corporate interests here, exploration companies are allowed to use dangerous blasts of noise to search for offshore oil and gas. The U.S. Department of the Interior is considering allowing geophysical companies that work for the oil and gas corporations to use these techniques in the Atlantic Ocean, from Delaware to Florida.
There are no noise-cancelling headphones to stop the U.S. Navy’s 235-decibel pressure waves of unbearable pinging and metallic shrieking. At 200Db, the vibrations can rupture your lungs, and above 210 Db, the lethal noise can bore straight through your brain until it hemorrhages that delicate tissue. If you’re not deaf after this devastating sonar blast, you’re dead. This is the real life of marine mammals destroyed by the U.S. Navy’s all-out acoustic war on the world’s oceans. The collateral damage of this high intensity military sonar is shocking. But because all these millions of dying whales or dolphins are too often out of human sight, they’re also out of mind. (8)
Just like Orca researcher Ken Balcomb calls it, this is “acoustic holocaust.”

Scientific American calls military sonar a brutal and inhumane death sentence.

HEARTBREAKING SLAUGHTER OF WHALES AND DOLPHINS BY JAPANESE FISHERMEN - THEN THEY RAM ACTIVISTS' VESSEL

Watch dramatic video of Japanese whaling ship ramming protestors' boat the Sea Sheperd in the South Pole after 'heartbreaking' whale slaughter
    • Dramatic video of Japanese whalers ramming boats off South Pole
    • Conservationists risk lives in icy waters to prevent slaughter
    • Protestors patrol earth's last pristine ocean to stop whale kill
    • Japanese claim killing whales is only 'scientific research
    • 'Sea captains tell of Japanese ships' eight hour attack
    • Volunteers tell of 'heartbreaking' scenes of dolphin killing

Sea Shepherd claims the collision was deliberate and part of a sustained attack by three whaling ships on the protestors.  In Sunday's attack, which continued until 9am, the harpoon vessels overtook the Sea Shepherd ships, crossing their bows and coming within three to five metres in numerous "dangerous manoeuvres", Sea Shepherd claimed.

It said the Yushin Maru 3 struck the Bob Barker and quoted the ship's captain, Peter Hammarstedt, and  Siddarth Chakravarty of the Steve Irwin saying the two ships on several occasions had to steer out of the harpoon whalers' paths, narrowly avoiding potential collisions.  "The whaling vessels also made consecutive attempts to foul the propellers of the Sea Shepherd ships by dragging steel cable across the bow of the conservation ships."

DOLPHIN MOTHER COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER BEING SEPARATED FROM CALF BY JAPANESE FISHERMEN ENGAGED IN MASS MURDER OF DOLPHINS

DID MOTHER OF PRIZED ALBINO DOLPHIN COMMIT SUICIDE AFTER BEING TORN FROM ITS CALF?

DAILY MAIL -  Marine experts claim mammal deliberately stopped breathing after Japanese fishermen separated pod in notorious killing cove.

Anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd said the distressed dolphin went under and failed to resurface with the rest of the pod after its calf was taken. Ric O' Barry, a former dolphin trainer who founded the Dolphin Project, believes the mother decided not to breathe anymore as a result of the ordeal. He said: 'People don't believe me, but dolphins do it all the time. Captivity is extremely stressful and there is nothing more stressful to a dolphin than taking away its calf.' Japanese fishermen have now finished killing some of the 250 dolphins trapped recently in what activists say was the biggest round-up they have witnessed in the last four years.

Experts say dolphins have been known to commit suicide in captivity after becoming distressed and confused at their conditions.

JAPANESE FISHERMEN AND THEIR BLOODY ORGY MURDERING DOLPHINS

Pod of captive dolphins killed one-by-one in Japanese bloodbath festival

A pod of captive dolphins are to be killed one-by-one in a traditional dolphin hunt in western Japan, where local fisherman corral the mammals into a secluded bay before killing many for meat.  At least 250 dolphins have been trapped in a cove, with the prettiest selected for sale to aquariums and the rest butchered for meat, was damaging the reputation of Japan.  Today the Japanese widow of John Lennon added her voice to pleas to dolphin fishermen that they stop their hunt, days after the US ambassador to Tokyo waded into the row.

ANOTHER MASSACRE OF DOLPHINS BY JAPANESE FISHERMEN - NOT CONTENT ENOUGH WITH THE WAY FUKUSHIMA IS KILLING OCEAN LIFE

DOLPHINS GET HIGH BY EATING TOXINS RELEASED BY PUFFER FISH

It makes dolphins lapse into a trance state.

In an extraordinary scene filmed for a new TV series, the dolphins are shown gently passing the fish between them.

Experts believe the creatures are using the toxins, which emerge from the puffer fish as part of its defence mechanism, for their own enjoyment.

They nudge the fish with their snouts and as the toxin is released into the water, they seem to lapse into a trance-like state.  At one point the dolphins are seen floating just underneath the water's surface, apparently mesmerised by their own reflections.

The dolphins were filmed gently playing with the puffer, passing it between each other for 20 to 30 minutes at a time, unlike the fish they had caught as prey which were swiftly torn apart.

Zoologist and series producer Rob Pilley said that it was the first time dolphins had been filmed behaving this way.  He added: 'We saw the dolphins handle the puffers with kid gloves, very gently and delicately like they were almost milking them to not upset the fish too much or kill it.'  As a result the fish released various toxins as a defence.

'The dolphins then seemed to  be mesmerised.'  He insisted that the scene couldn't have been a one-off encounter, saying: 'The dolphins were specifically going for the puffers and deliberately handling them with care.'
