ADORABLE LION CUB LOVES TO PLAY WITH AUTUMN LEAVES

The following article is from a while back, but this feline's adorable liveliness is something we can still enjoy today.

Staff at the Blair Drummond Safari Park, near Stirling, Scotland, had been raking up the leaves to keep the attraction tidy, when Karis's keeper Brian Reid realised that his little charge might enjoy playing in them and moved the pile into her enclosure.

Photographer Ajar Setiadi captured the moment two dumpy tree frogs climbed the flowers in his back garden in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 47-year-old said: ‘I was playing with my frogs at the time and then it started showering quite a bit.

‘The frogs managed to jump from one flower to another and hold it above their heads so that they did not get wet. I couldn't not take a picture because it was such a brilliant moment. I found it funny that they had done all of this to stay dry.’

HARD-WORKING CHIPMUNKS GETTING READY FOR WINTER - A little overambitious, perhaps, but so cute

They look so cute you'll want to hibernate with them! Chipmunks become internet hit as hidden camera shows them stocking up for winter by stuffing their mouths with more nuts than they can handle.

It's literally nuts how much these creatures can manage to stuff inside their cheeks.

And once you check out Squirrel Cam, you'll never view them as just rats with bushy tails ever again.

Two years ago, nature photographer Pandiaundre Q Dax became fixated on the greedy little things as they interacted with their natural habitat and prepared for the winter months.

The Illinois resident decided to get a closer look and began to video squirrels, chipmunks and birds, scurrying about and foraging for seeds, almonds and peanuts. The Squirrel Cam Facebook page was born as a result; it now has over 14,000 likes and fans from all over the globe.

That's hardly surprising considering it caters to animal lovers with a fantastic selection of pics, drawings, videos and memes for them to feast their eyes upon.

As the vital period of winter dormancy crawls nearer, we are sure this footage will make you wish you could join these hungry squirrels in a long state of slumber...dreaming of nuts.

Animals (especially wild animals) don't have the vanity or the discipline to pose for organized family photos, but wildlife photographers will still do their best to capture photos that look like they could be corny family holiday post-cards. With its wings outstretched, at first glance it's almost impossible to tell the little bird is different from the flower. The only give-away is its small, thin, bill that peaks through its wings.

MONSTERS OF THE DEEP - THE STRANGE CREATURES DWELLING IN THE OCEAN

Diver explores the world's oceans to photograph some of the Earth's most bizarre-looking creatures

These remarkable creatures look like beings from another world - indeed, we know more about the surface of the moon than the deep sea habitat where they live. Alexander Semenov spent hundreds of hours diving at sites across the globe, documenting rarely seen marine organisms including sea butterflies, marine worms and sea angels. The 28-year-old photographer, from Russia, says his aim is to reveal the beauty of underwater life.

'The Sea of Japan is the pearl of Russian seas. You need years and years to find even half of inhabitants of this sea', said the photographer.

So we wonder how many of these species will be wiped out by the ongoing Fukushima spewing of nuclear waste into the sea. Here on the North American west coast we have been witnessing many anomalies in sea creatures, and the complete disappearance of starfish.

Beautiful photographs of birds and beasts show a wonderful spectrum of British wildlife - including stoats, snakes, owls and otters. The images were finalists in the British Wildlife Centre's third Native and Natural photo contest. It attracted more than 500 entries, all snapped at the centre in Lingfield, Surrey - home to 40 different native species.
