Diver explores the world's oceans to photograph some of the Earth's most bizarre-looking creatures
These remarkable creatures look like beings from another world - indeed, we know more about the surface of the moon than the deep sea habitat where they live. Alexander Semenov spent hundreds of hours diving at sites across the globe, documenting rarely seen marine organisms including sea butterflies, marine worms and sea angels. The 28-year-old photographer, from Russia, says his aim is to reveal the beauty of underwater life.

A concern:
'The Sea of Japan is the pearl of Russian seas. You need years and years to find even half of inhabitants of this sea', said the photographer.
So we wonder how many of these species will be wiped out by the ongoing Fukushima spewing of nuclear waste into the sea. Here on the North American west coast we have been witnessing many anomalies in sea creatures, and the complete disappearance of starfish.
