The media are silent, as usual. 

This coverup extends to any negative activity by the Palestinians, including their glorification of terrorists who kill civilians, their endemic corruption, their past as collaborators with the German Nazi regime, and their current Nazi genocidal ideology. 

None of that is allowed to reach the pages of the mainstream media.

ALARMING NUMBER OF HONOR KILLINGS BY PALESTINIANS

The number of other Palestinian violent acts against women goes unreported.

Honor killings have a sad history throughout the Muslim world. Many families deliberately and systematically kill wives and daughters if there is any suspicion of the women bringing “dishonor” to the family.

 

The cause of such shame may come from actual or feared adultery, refusal to marry a designated spouse, or even dressing inappropriately. The cultural rationale for the honor killings is that by murdering the offending women, honor is restored to the families.

Gaza and the West Bank are similar to other parts of the Muslim world regarding the reasons for honor killings. However, the recent spike in the number of killings in the territories has been very dramatic and atypical. In 2011, there were five such murders in the territories. 

The number of homicides jumped to 13 in 2012, and doubled again to 27 in 2013. In just the first two months of 2014, 8 honor killings were reported by Palestinian media sources, a pace that would have put it on course for nearly doubling again.

By comparison, in Afghanistan an estimated 150 women are killed each year in honor killings. Afghanistan has over eight times the population of Gaza and West Bank, and 18 times Gaza alone. Therefore, on a proportionate basis, the Palestinians now kill twice as many women in honor killings as Afghanistan (or over three times as many if one only counts Gaza where most of the murders take place).

It's the law in the Palestinian Authority

 

Adding insult to these horrific murders increasing popularity, was the lax way such murders were treated in Palestinian courts. According to the Palestinian Law (Article 340), the killers were not subject to any punishment.

“He who discovers his wife or female relative committing adultery and kills, wounds or injuries one or both of them is exempted from any penalty, and he who discovers his wife, or one of his female ascendants or descendants or sisters with another in an unlawful bed and he kills, wounds or injures one or both of them, benefits from a reduction of penalty.”

The terrible jump in honor killing of women in Gaza and the West Bank did not make it to the pages of The New York Times. The courts absolution granted to the murderers was not a subject that the Times decided to cover. In 2011. In 2012. In 2013. In 2014.

 

The closest the New York Times came to an article about the Palestinians’ disregard for a woman’s life in the territories was in an article by Jodi Rudoren in October 2012. That article was about a particular women’s rights advocate. While one would imagine some specifics about the lack of women’s rights and a review of honor killings being covered in such an article, there was barely any mention.

• There was no description of honor killings
• No report on the increasing number of killings
• No review of Palestinian Law absolving the murderers

Instead, Roduren chose to describe the difficulty of a specific woman acting as a rights advocate in Gaza (as opposed to the hardship all women face in Gaza). Of course, according to Roduren, the main source of the hardship was Israel:

• ““psychological siege” imposed by a combination of Israeli restrictions on travel and trade”
• “lost a personal battle last month when Israel’s Supreme Court rejected a petition by her and three other women to study in the West Bank.”
• “the resistance of the Israeli occupation as a priority,”
• Israeli court ruled, 2 to 1, against the four women
• “Israeli warplane hit an apartment building”

So what does a reader take-away from the New York Times?

1. While the New York Times occasionally covered stories of honor killings in Afghanistan or Pakistan, it never covered those killings in Gaza, despite the greater prevalence in Gaza.
2. When the paper had a chance to describe the honor killings in Gaza in an article about a woman’s rights advocates, it opted not to do so.
3. The thrust of the sole article on the morbid topic laid most of the blame on Israel, as opposed to the Palestinians themselves

Hooray New York Times. You gave a pass for Muslim misogyny and murder meted out by Palestinians. Absolution of the Arab sins came from Jews just across the Green Line.

Over the past few days, Russian President Vladimir Putin has made various military moves which presage an imminent invasion of the Crimea.  Such moves have included Russian forces occupying Crimean military and civilian airports, and landing thousands of highly armed Russian special forces into those airports.  

 

The overwhelmingly Russian-majority parts of the Crimea are welcoming the regular Russian forces with Russian flag-waving.  In the face of what is clearly is a lead-up to a likely Russian invasion, the Obama regime has simply waffled.  

 

All the European countries are horrified by Putin's very blunt and naked aggression. If Georgia is any precedent, Putin will soon have opened a land corridor from Russia to Russia's key naval base in Sevastopol. Events have moved with lightning speed, and will be presented as fait accompli. The UN will be paralyzed.

About the only campaign promise Obama has kept (apart from his promise to open direct talks with Iran) was Obama's famous "hot mic" promise of "flexibility" to Putin transmitted through the then-President Medvedev.

 

President Obama's private and cryptic conversation with then Russian president Medvedev was overheard through a 'hot mic" back in 2012.

 

President Obama:  "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space".

 

President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…

 

President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.

 

President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.

 

Medvedev was very clear to explain to Obama, in English, the nuance that  Medvedev couldn't even begin to negotiate or represent anything on the subject, and was only empowered to pass the "information to Vladimir."

Obama has been flexible to Russia not only on missile defense, but also on Russia's abetting Assad's murder of hundreds of thousands of Sunnis. He turned a blind eye to Russia arming Iran with nukes, Egypt with billions of weapons, and now Russia invading the Crimea. Obama has been "flexible" indeed.  Russia has accomplished almost all these striking goals while almost all of the European countries were steadfastly against most of Russia's moves.

Now, if Obama rolled-over for Putin when almost all the EU and Sunni Arab world were against it, just imagine if Russia inserted troops into a "West Bank Palestine" where the EU and Sunnis would be all for it.  With West Bank Palestine international airports under Palestinian control, Russia could land 20 troops transports in 2 hours before Israel knew what happened.  

 

Would Israel shoot Russian troop transport planes vectoring for Palestinian Arab International airports out of the sky?  That's a strong "no," except if Israel wanted to be nuked by Russian ICBMs.

 

Could the UN do a single thing if Russia sent thousands of soldiers into "West Bank Palestine"? Russia and likely China, France, and Great Britain would fight over who vetoes the resolution first.

And what if 10 Iranian civilian jumbo jets full of Iranian Republican Guard soldier "tourists" are in formation, and about to land in the "West Bank Palestine"'s international airport?!!?  The thousands of Iranian soldiers in full military dress want to come and visit the Holy Land, especially the al Aska mosque in al Quds!  In a "West Bank Palestine", could Israel stop them?  Of course not.  

 

Once Israel cedes federal "National" level sovereignty over any inch of the are and grants construciton of international airports, the entire game is over.  Anybody can bring anybody into that geographic area.  And, there will be a future saying in the Middle East, "One man's 'tourist' is another man's 'terrorist'"

If Iran gains an arsenal of nuclear weapons, Iran's ability to present a fait accompli injection of tens of thousands "visiting" al Quds troops into the real al Quds will come true.  Palestinian citizenship and residency can be granted to tens, or hundreds, of thousands of Iranian Republican guards and their full families.  

 

So, if Israel ever had to re-invade the West Bank (say over an Iranian Katyusha rocket into Tel Aviv), Israel would not only have the currently existing status quo Palestinian population to control, but also the hundreds of thousands, and perhaps millions, of additional new "Palestinians" that would had been granted citizenship and residency by the independent "Palestine".

In conclusion, if Russia or Iran act with impunity over invasions of Georgia, and the Crimea, or proxy wars such as Syria, they will do so when Obama creates an independent "West Bank Palestine".  Hagel's statement that Russia shouldn't take any action that "could be misinterpreted" clearly "scared" the Russkies. Larvov probably said to Putin, "well, a clear 'invasion' would be 'misinterpreted.'"  

 

Then, as to Obama's "there will be costs," Putin likely said to Lavrov, "There will be 'costs' to the US."  Obama's spineless quotes on the Ukraine will seem brave compared to when Russia or Iran will throw thousands of soldiers into a 'democratic' Palestine that has requested Russian and Iranian troops to march in.  Instead of Jews abstractly 'piously' debating and counting "demography," Israel may likely be concretely counting thousands of dead Jews.

International Law Recognizes Jewish Claims

History reminds us that the Palestine Mandate, supported by all 51 members of the League of Nations at the time, and codified in international law, is recognized as legally valid by the United Nations in Article 80 of the UN Charter. In addition, the International Court of Justice has reaffirmed this on three different occasions.

 

The Armistice Lines of 1949, which are part of the West Bank boundary, represent nothing but the position of the contending armies when the final cease-fire was achieved in the War of Independence.

 

Israeli legal claims to Judea and Samaria are strengthened by the fact that no other sovereign nation state claims this territory as her own.

 

Both the Ottoman Turks and the British Mandate renounced their claims to the Land of Israel decades ago, including Judea and Samaria. 

 

Furthermore, Jordan’s annexation of Judea and Samaria following Israel’s declaration of independence was never internationally recognized, since it amounted to an act of aggression. Both the UN Security Council and UN General Assembly declared at that time that Israel was a peace-loving state in the 1948 war.

 

Observers argue too that the fact that Jordan has officially renounced her claims to Judea and Samaria and signed a peace agreement with Israel without gaining back these territories seals the water-tight case for Israel’s jurisdiction there.

 

What the law says in the case of Israel that reclaimed lands that originally belonged to her as part of a war of self-defense in 1967:

 

Where the prior holder of territory had seized that territory unlawfully, the state which subsequently takes that territory in the lawful exercise of self-defense has, against that prior holder, better title,  Between Israel acting defensively in 1948 and 1967 on the one hand, and her Arab neighbors acting aggressively in 1948 and 1967 on the other, Israel has the better title in the territory of what was Palestine, including the whole of Jerusalem, than do Jordan and Egypt.

BEWARE WHAT YOU WISH FOR - THE REAL DANGERS OF A PALESTINIAN STATE

 

As strife increases in African and Middle Eastern states one needs to ask the most obvious question:  what exactly can the world realistically expect from a Palestinian state?

 

Not peace with Israel - if we judge by past and current anti-Judean ideology among Palestinians and their often repeated intention to conquer "all of Palestine", meaning Israel too. 

 

Not economic success - demonstrated by past and present corruption, which is rife both in Gaza and the Palestinian authority.

 

Not economic independence.  The areas the world want Israel to surrender (Judea and Samaria) for a Palestinian state don't have the natural resources (such as water) to sustain a   population with such high reproductive rate - much less absorb the millions of Palestinian refugees waiting for a state.

 

Not stability and internal democracy - with various factions vying for power, not through the ballot box but by sheer violence.

 

Not an end to the Palestinian refugee problem - Palestinian Authority leaders have made it clear that they won't grant citizenship or residence to those refugees now languishing  in refugee camps in Arab countries, and even in the Palestinian Authority itself.

DANGERS OF THE PALESTINIAN STATE

We recently learned that shortly before he was deposed, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi contacted al-Qaida and promised to help the terror group set up a base of operations in Sinai. Had Morsi remained in power, the Israel-Egypt border would have become an extension of the Gaza Strip and our peace treaty with Egypt would have gone up in smoke.   What was about to transpire in Egypt, what is taking place in Syria and Lebanon, and what the Arab nations seem to be going through in general, must be used as a cautionary tale when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.   The Palestinian Authority assumes that any agreement or treaty will have a dubious future, even if it is backed by American and international assurances -- the value of which we are already familiar with.   Let's assume that once a sovereign "Palestine" is formed its government strikes a "friendship treaty" with Iran or North Korea, and a few hundred "experts" visit it to consult on issues such as training the "national guard" or the formulation of an intelligence system; or that the Palestinian government would be willing to take in a few thousand refugees and with the U.N.'s assistance, houses them in refugee camps set up within view of Jerusalem or Petach Tikva; or that the Shin Bet security agency realizes that a few hundred jihadis have found their way to these refugee camps and have set up terror cells; or that Palestine holds general elections and Hamas wins and sets up a government in Ramallah.   There are endless plausible scenarios. What will Israel do? Invade Palestine? Demand U.N. Security Council action? Ask the U.S. for help?   As a sovereign state, Palestine would enjoy immunity under international law and by the grace of the U.N. Any unilateral steps taken against it would be in gross violation of international law and Israel would be faced with censures and boycotts as a result, as well as Security Council sanctions. Anyone who thinks that the Security Council would notice that it was the Palestinian state which violated the peace deal and therefore should also be sanctioned is sorely mistaken.   The U.S. believes that every problem has a solution. That belief might suit reality as the Americans see it, but that is not the case in our neck of the woods. We have to deal with the fact that coexistence and true peace with a sovereign Arab state in the land of Israel is a recipe for disaster.   As fate would have it, both the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and late Prime Minister Menachem Begin indicated -- each in his own time and words -- that the only possible solution is an autonomous Palestinian regime under an Israeli umbrella. The Palestinian Authority is already autonomous.
