Study:  Diversity is Bad for Social Cohesion

New research from Gothenburg University on solidarity in Sweden backs up evidence from previous studies that ethnic diversity is bad for social cohesion.
 

Surveying 9,800 randomly selected people, the university’s SOM Institute looked at the degree to which people in Sweden are able to feel a connection with people who differ from themselves.  Researchers found that, outside of their own group, respondents are most inclined to feel an affinity with people whose education vastly differs from their own.    “Most also feel a relatively large affinity with those who have very different political views, a different sexual orientation or whose financial situation differs from their own,” science and technology magazine Forskning reports.

Respondents said they feel the least affinity with people with different ethnic backgrounds, who practice a different religion, or who were brought up in other cultures.

• If you attended a good Midwestern university in the 20th century you were able to pay out-of-state tuition, textbooks, and room and board with what you made in tips working as a waiter/waitress in the summer.  
• University education was generally good, there was no PC-Police on campus, everyone was free to express his opinion. 
• All ethnic groups got along courteously with one another, and some kids made life-lasting friendships. 
• Alternative sexual preferences were still relatively private, instead of a political statement.
• And most importantly, kids got to learn academically and as a life experience.  Their degree was worth something.   
• Much has changed since then, and for the worse.  Universities are now seething with anti-white, anti-Jewish, anti-conservative intolerance.
• Censorship of non-leftist viewpoints is rife.   Students violently shout down any attempt at debating ideas they disagree with. 
• Colleges offer expensive and useless courses and degrees, and nurture a culture of victimhood and ego fragility.   
• Entrance qualifications based on merit are gone.  Now affirmative action based on race and gender determines who gets in, and who stays out. 
• And other than government out-of-control lending for tuition, there is no good explanation for why colleges and universities have become so ridiculously expensive. 
• We need a movement for the private funding and creation of a new sort of post-secondary education where the main objective would be to teach well, not to do fancy research or pay for expensive sports activities.  These would be colleges and universities where a degree would represent the student's individual effort and intelligence, instead of be the result of grading based on correcting perceived social injustices.

Men who vote for the political right are more likely to have a positive opinion of masculinity, compared to those in the center and the left.

As Muslim migrants have swept all over Western Europe molesting and even raping women and children, European men were nowhere to be seen.   They failed to protect their wives and daughters from being raped, and after the fact they have remained quiet, afraid to show courage and outrage, and to demand a crackdown on lawlessness and a stop to Muslim migration.

Young men in Britain are reluctant to identify as “masculine” and think the term has “negative connotations”, a YouGov poll has revealed.

According to the survey, only two per cent of male respondents aged between 18 to 24 described themselves as “completely masculine”, compared to 56 per cent of over 65s.

• They are in a non-ending quest to legalize as normal all psychological aberrations regarding self-identity - even to the point of absurdity.  If you are a white woman and see yourself as black African (the real case of white Rachel Dolezal, ex NAACP leader who fooled everyone), the left demands that your self-identity should prevail over science and common sense. 
• If you are biologically a man and ALLEGE that you see yourself as a girl, the government allows you to use the girls' bathroom to protect your feelings - all this in full disregard of women and children's safety.
• In the USA 55,000 school children will lose their privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms because of a tiny minority of children who suffer from sexual identity issues.
• In Europe women victims of rape by Muslims are accused of racism by the left if they denounce the perpetrator or Muslim rape culture in general.
• Third world women suffering from indescribably cruelty by men have been abandoned by the western left and feminists - because cultural traditions such as honor killings, sexual mutilation, acid burnings, and outright murder should not be criticized out of respect for those countries' values.

Perhaps it is appropriate to publish this article after yet another spectacular primary win by Donald Trump - the epitome of masculinity in a political field filled with wusses.  

 

Not that this blog endorses Trump.  The point is that voters perceive him as being tough, masculine, ready to challenge liberal policies on immigration, crime, trade, and other issues.. 

 

It is very likely that political realities will force him to turn wimpy once in office and renege on his promises.  He has already sidestepped the issue of transgendered bathrooms, saying he will leave the states to decide, and his managers told the GOP that his act was to "project an image," and that he would mellow once in office. 

 

But at the present moment his rising popularity shows a yearning for a return to the natural order of things, where men take on the role of defenders of society, and in particular of women and children. 

 

The ongoing wave of rape of women and children by Muslims in Europe has exposed not only the violent nature of Islam, but - most importantly - the terminal decadence of European society. 

 

This decadence has been fueled by feminism.  For several decades now feminist mothers and teachers have been raising men to be more like women.  Masculine qualities have been brainwashed out of them.

 

This is how Dutch men reacted to the Muslim mass rape of women in Cologne during New Year's Eve  - by wearing mini-skirts to show their support for victims of rape!  Just look at them and cry.  - Other European men do not wear skirts but have been silent, in hiding, and doing NOTHING as their wives and children (boys and girls) continue to be raped.

• The other candidates they left behind were no better. 
• The GOP campaign has been embarrassingly childish and lacking in substance.  Even the most right wing Republicans cringe at the level of discourse.
• Furthermore, both the Democrat and Republican establishments have proved to be undemocratic and politically corrupt to the core. 
• How can any nominee, Democrat or Republican, be expected to run the country?
• This blogger is not rooting for any candidate, only lamenting that such a culturally advanced nation keeps producing candidates for the highest office (and presidents) that are so unqualified, and that the system is so utterly rigged - considering that the USA's main claim to moral superiority is its "democracy".

• Liberal progressives, with Donald Trump's support, are agitating for laws that would allow MEN - transgendered or not (who is going to check?) - to enter the same public bathrooms as little girls.  
• Homosexual activism used to be about banning discrimination in the job, housing, and such. 
• Now the demands keep escalating to the point of putting the safety of girls and women at risk - all in the name of political correctness.  
• Voters' infatuation with Donald Trump is irrational, since the man has no political record behind him, and a vague agenda.
• Trump has given no details on how he intends to implement his agenda of making America Great Again. 
• His populist slogans are simplistic to the point of being insulting to voters' intelligence. 
• This blog posted an article many months ago where an expert warned that Trump's candidacy was all about stopping Cruz, a real conservative, who is genuinely feared by the GOP establishment.

The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of IngSoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible.

 

Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express, while excluding all other meaning and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods.

 

This was done partly by the invention of new words, but chiefly by eliminating undesirable words and stripping such words as remained of unorthodox meanings, and so far as possible of all secondary meaning whatever. – George Orwell, 1984

 

Language has power. The way we describe things is the way we think about them. Change the name and you can change the thing.

 

Political Correctness tells you what you are allowed to call things, how you can talk about them and, especially, what you can’t say.

 

PC always rears its head in discourse about race, gender, social class, or anything that can produce discriminatory attitudes.

 

One of its functions is to enforce the view that it is morally wrong to judge any characteristic of a person or a group inferior or superior to others in any way. So to avoid saying that a person is ‘handicapped’ or ‘disabled’, the locution ‘differently-abled’ was invented.

 

And any word whose initial definition was neutral that has collected negative connotations over time – like ‘Negro’, ‘homosexual’, or ‘Oriental’ – becomes taboo. Words describing defects have also become forbidden, like ‘retarded’.
