    BEAUTIFUL PICTURES OF MAN FEEDING MANATEES UNDERWATER - Jeremy Wade is known for his River Monsters show.

    Manatee  - (Wikipedia photo)
    Dinner time with the gentle giants of the deep: River Monsters presenter Jeremy Wade dives to feed the manatees.

    He took on his own greatest fear when he hunted down a 200lb anaconda hiding out in the Amazon river.  But now Jeremy Wade has taken some time out beneath the waves with a gentler aquatic breed, this time a docile marine mammal.

    The River Monsters presenter is pictured here feeding the manatees at River Safari, Singapore.  Wade made a sell-out special appearance at the aquarium this afternoon to share stories and tips on how to catch monster fish.

    He swam among the manatees as well as captive arapaima, among the world's largest freshwater fish, at River Safari’s Amazon Flooded Forest – the world’s largest freshwater aquarium.

    DIVER SHAKES HANDS WITH HUGE HUMPBACK WHALE

    The diver was swimming with a friend off the coast of Hawaii when the remarkable encounter took place.  They were swimming close to a group of humpback whales and were just metres away from one - weighing almost 80,000 pounds – when it extended its giant flipper in a peaceful manner.

    Mover and shaker: The moment a humpback whale 'shakes hands' with a diver off the coast of Hawaii

    Photographer Masa Ushioda, from Tokyo, Japan, moved to Hona, Hawaii, and took the pictures of the underwater meeting near his new home. Mr Ushioda, 43, said: ‘This particular female humpback whale - with the white belly - was extremely friendly and very curious about us humans.

    They didn't have the hump: The female whale that 'shook the hand' of the diver seemed quite content to swim with him and his friend‘She extended her pectoral fins to us repeatedly and sought for physical contact.  Other male whales around her were dangerous as they were fighting each other to gain access to this white bellied female.’

    The pair were 50ft underwater and Mr Ushioda said the encounter was the best experience he has had with humpback whales.

    The friendly whale can be seen elegantly swimming on her back as she shows off her dancing moves while gliding through the water.  Mr Ushioda added: ‘The female whale was exceptional - there are many friendly whales, but they don't often come in for physical contact - this made it extra special.

    You can tell in the photographs how friendly she is, she's just posing for me in every picture.  The female whale was showing off her spectacular ballet dancing along the way.  However, one of the whales stunned the pair when it decided to blow bubbles – and it ‘sounded like a bomb’.  It was apparently a bid to tell amorous males nearby to back off.

    Mr Ushioda continued: ‘All of a sudden she broke serene silence by blowing bubbles in a forceful way - it was like the explosion of an underwater bomb.  Since the seawater is over 800 times denser than air, the impact of the sound wave was amazingly loud and alarming.’

    FAROES FISHERMEN TURN SEA RED WITH WHALE BLOOD EACH YEAR

    A tradition?  A sport?  A primitive and gory spectacle?

    Faroe Island fishermen murder hundreds of pilot whales every year.  They say it's tradition.

    The Faroe Islands, located between Norway and Island, are a sovereign country but within the  Denmark's realm.  Their population is only 50,000.

    Haunting images of local residents slashing whales, turning the water red with blood, have fueled protests from environmental activists who say the hunt is cruel.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Warned by their own Faroes Chief Medical officer:  Whale meat is not fit for human consumption.
    On 26 November 2008, the Chief Medical Officer in the Faroes, Dr Høgni Debes Joensen, together with Dr Pál Weihe of the Department of Public and Occupational Health, issued a joint press statement with a recommendation that the meat and blubber of pilot whales was no longer fit for human consumption because of the  high levels of mercury and other toxins that accumulate in the meat and organs of the whales and a comparatively high incidence of Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and other serious health issues in the Faroes linked to these contaminants.
    If whale meat is not good for human consumption, then the killing orgy takes place for the fun of torturing and murdering animals that don't do any harm to anyone.
