• Imagine you wake up one day without electric power.  None of your electronic devices works either.  You sense something is wrong, get dressed and head for your car to drive to the grocery store and stock up on essentials.  Your car, equipped as it is with electronic parts, won't start. 
• You're lucky enough to live within walking distance of a grocery store.  Once you get there it's total mayhem, people are trampling over each other to grab whatever they can.  No way to call police.  You walk back home wondering what is going on. 
• The days that follow are of pure savagery, with the country technically and culturally back in the Stone Age.  Bands of armed thugs loot stalled trucks containing food items, and roam cities stealing food and everything they can.  They kill whoever gets in their way. 
• The sick, unable to get medical aid, would begin to die.  Non-nursing babies would starve without formula.   
• Highways would be clogged with stalled vehicles.  Computers, phones, TVs, and radios would all be useless. 
• Remember, there is no transportation, no distribution of food or medicine, no clean water, no working electronics, and no power to run any of the machines we count on to maintain civilization.  And no police presence.    
• Along with social chaos, there is starvation.  Urban survivors not part of gangs of thugs would be reduced to eating their pets and wildlife.  Farmers would be unable to defend themselves against bands of thieves. 
• Good citizens with guns would fare better than those without them, but only temporarily.  Resources would eventually dwindle to nothing.  Unless you are one of those preppers who have thought of everything and are well stocked, well armed, and well hidden and protected, your chances of survival are zilch.   And this is the prospect for 90% of people living in the USA.
• Whether this EMP scenario is caused by a bomb detonated in the atmosphere by a foreign government or a fanatic, or by a giant solar flare directed at us, it does not matter.  An EMP catastrophe is not a matter of if, but of WHEN.  
• Congress has been remiss in addressing this issue and providing funds to fortify the US electrical grid.  As it stands now, there are not enough spare parts in America, and they would have to be imported.  It would take many months to reconstruct the grid, but first social order would have to be restored and the mess cleaned up. 
• Maybe coastal areas would start the rebirth, as they could more easily access supplies from overseas.  Maybe. 
• A disturbing question is WHO would be in charge of the country's reconstruction.  It's not inconceivable that it would be a foreign power.  China - desperate as it is for land and resources - would perhaps come to the rescue, at a high price.    
• So, dear American reader, when your President and Congressmen waste their time talking about marginal issues, ask them what exactly they are doing to  prepare the nation for an EMP catastrophe. 
• The Obama administration and the Democrats have said that the worst threat to the USA - besides Trump - is CLIMATE CHANGE!!!!
• The Climate Change campaign has been a ruse to divert attention away from real threats such as EMPs, nuclear power plants (NPPs), and overpopulation devouring ever shrinking natural resources while polluting the planet. 
• Please keep in mind that without electrical power to operate their machines, nuclear power plants go into meltdown.  After an EMP there would be a series of nuclear power plant meltdowns across the USA contaminating land and killing people.  At present a single case of loss of electrical  power in an NPP can be dealt with, but not when the country is in complete chaos.  
• The Trump administration appears not to have effective preparations for a solar-caused or man-made EMP that would  destroy the American civilization and kill 90% of the US population.  
• ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING TO KEEP IN MIND is that the number one priority for government authorities at all levels - before, during, and after a disaster - is to avoid panic, and this is why an EMP catastrophe is almost never mentioned.

The ongoing fixation with man-made climate change serves to divert attention from the real danger to all life on earth from the nuclear industry and from EMP events.  Well-meaning environmentalists have fallen for this ruse quite unaware of how they are being manipulated.    

• Clean, safe  nuclear energy is nothing but a hoax. There is no safe way to dispose of highly toxic nuclear waste, as it continues to accumulate.   
• Nuclear power plants have a relatively short life (a few decades at the most) and their decommissioning is extremely expensive. 
• A number of catastrophes can certainly precipitate the meltdown of all nuclear power plants (NPP) in an affected area.  
• For example, a major solar flare directed towards the USA and Canada would fry all electronics and destroy the electric grid.  It's not a matter of if, but when. 
• NPPs need electric power to function.  Without it they would go into meltdown in a matter of days, contaminating large swathes of the country, killing millions of people, and leaving survivors to starve in a world reduced to the stone age.
• A terror attack with one or more nuclear bombs strategically detonated in the atmosphere would have the same effect as a major solar flare. 
• Those bombs would produce an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) that would destroy the grid, unleashing a chain of events bringing chaos, famine, and savagery. 
• The real perpetrator (China, Russia, Iran, North Korea) could give the technology to jihadis, manipulate them into claiming responsibility, and thus save itself from American retaliation. 
• There is no plan for the short-term repair of a fried electric grid.  It is no exaggeration to say that it would result in the collapse of our civilization. 
• Add to that natural catastrophes such as major earthquakes and tsunamis, that would render NPPs inoperable and vulnerable to meltdown.
• The experiences with Katrina and other similar disasters prove that governments at all levels are incapable of dealing with major catastrophes, even when they claim to have plans in place.  
• The United States has NO CONTINGENCY PLAN in place to deal with the loss of the electric grid, or the social chaos that would ensue.  None whatsoever, although the government knows that millions would die.

There have been a small number of politicians and activists trying to call attention to the danger of EMPs, but Congress has chosen not to act.  The majority would rather listen to climate change hysterics, in spite of proven scientific manipulation of data for political reasons, including by the much cited government agency NOAA.   

 

Climate does change naturally over the years, centuries, and millions of years.  The fascinating science of geology gives evidence of continuous environmental change, some gradual, some abrupt and disastrous - all of it natural.  However, infinitely worse than man-made CO2 is the creation of the nuclear industry, which could wipe out civilization in a matter of days.

How to bring the USA to its knees

LIVE SCIENCE - One way to create a widespread and damaging electromagnetic pulse (EMP) would be to detonate a large nuclear weapon over the central United States, at an altitude of 25 miles to 500 miles (40 kilometers to 800 kilometers), according to the Commission to Assess the Threat to the U.S. from EMP Attack, in testimony before the House Armed Services Committee in July 2008.

At this height, a nuclear blast could interact with the ionosphere, the shell of electrons and electrically charged particles surrounding Earth, to create a series of electromagnetic pulses that could reach across a continent, according to the commission. Once a burst of atmospheric radiation hits the ground, it could induce strong currents in telephone and electrical cables, which can short out transformers, said Daniel Baker, a physicist at the University of Colorado.    

Transformers take high voltage current and "transform" it into low voltage current that can be used by households. But an EMP could derail this process, creating currents that overheat transformers and cause them to fail, Baker said.    An electromagnetic surge from a solar storm is a more likely threat for an EMP.

The following article fails to mention three important things.

 

1)  The most dangerous effect of a disaster will be the failure and meltdown of the several nuclear power plants in the area affected.   Power failure as a result of a major earthquake, or an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event caused by a major solar flare or by a deliberate terror attack, would fry the electric grid indefinitely.  A major EMP event, by the way, is also not just a matter of if, but when.  It's going to happen sometime.  It will take us back to the stone age.

Never mind what an earthquake or an EMP event would do to society - considering the immediate lack of food, transportation, water, and other necessities.  After all, everything runs on computers these days. 

 

The worst part will be the meltdown of nuclear power plants as a result of long-term lack of electric power to run the machinery, contaminating large swaths of land and killing off the survivors.  This, for some obscure reason, is never mentioned.  Please see references for this nightmare scenario at the bottom of this page.

 

Fukushima on fire

Japan, one of the best prepared countries in the world for earthquakes and tsunamis, saw their FUKUSHIMA nuclear plant go into meltdown.  To this days, years after their disaster, they are still unable to take control of the situation, so they keep dumping heavily radioactive waste into the Pacific Ocean. 

 

And that was only one nuclear power plant.  Imagine how the US and Canada would be completely overwhelmed to even protect one of the many nuclear power plants in the region.   Nuclear waste storage areas such as the infamous Hanford, would simply spill their poison all over rivers, air and land.   

 

The East Coast is not safe either.  There are volcanoes in the Atlantic that are ticking bombs, such as El Hierro in the Canary Islands.  An eruption could unleash a major tsunami that would engulf the US/Canada East Coast - and their nuclear power plants.

2)  Be skeptical of all estimates of government help plans and timelines.  In this century alone we have witnessed at least two major failures to properly react to two manageable disasters:  the Katrina and Sandy hurricanes.  It took authorities many days, even weeks, to give basic assistance to survivors, and when they did, it was in grossly ineffective ways.  YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

 

3)  Aside from the usual list of necessities, a gun or two with plenty of ammunition would be very helpful to protect your family.  In cases of protracted crises all social norms tend to break down.  Bad people will behave badly, and good people will too, when hungry and scared.   US and Canada demographics are changing constantly.  You no longer know your neighbors.

An earthquake will destroy a sizable portion

 of the coastal Northwest. The question is when.

• When the next very big earthquake hits, the northwest edge of the continent, from California to Canada and the continental shelf to the Cascades, will drop by as much as six feet and rebound thirty to a hundred feet to the west—losing, within minutes, all the elevation and compression it has gained over centuries.
• Some of that shift will take place beneath the ocean, displacing a colossal quantity of seawater.
• By the time the shaking has ceased and the tsunami has receded, the region will be unrecognizable.
• When the next full-margin rupture happens, that region will suffer the worst natural disaster in the history of North America.

The question is how many of these secret radioactive waste dumps are there in or around our cities?

 

 

A government contractor buried tens of thousands of barrels of nuclear waste in two sites around St. Louis that may have caused more than 2,700 cases of cancer, a lawsuit and CBS News are alleging.

 

In 1947, the Manhattan Project, which created the first atom bomb, chose about 22 acres of land north of Lambert Airport in St. Louis as its dumping grounds for radioactive waste.

 

Hundreds of thousands of tons of it, all owned by the government, were carelessly stored outside, allowing the holding containers to rust and spill uranium and other contaminants out onto the ground.

 

By the time contamination became a concern in 1962, the now-defunct Atomic Energy Commission began shopping for potential buyers for the waste.

 

In the following years, waste spilled out and polluted neighboring property while in transit, before even more waste was illegally dumped in the West Lake Landfill.

 

The dump was ruled to have been contaminated with 150,000 tons of radioactive waste by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1988, but the cleanup effort was never completed.

“Within a six-house radius, I knew four people with brain cancer, one a child, one a young professor,” resident Jenelle Wright told CBS. “And I just thought, ‘This is really odd.'”

 

What is truly disturbing is that Wright and others only figured out that something was wrong when they got together on Facebook to plan a school reunion. When they started reconnecting, they noticed that a lot of people they knew had developed cancer.

 

“If we did not have social media, if Facebook did not exist, we would never have put these pieces together,” Wright said.

Soon after the devastating tsunami struck Japan's east coast in March of 2011, the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan showed up to provide humanitarian aid. It may have exposed those on board to toxic levels of radiation. Here, sailors scrub down the flight deck to clean the ship of radiation on March 23, 2011.

Steve Simmons was honorably discharged from the Navy for medical reasons last June. His complaints began about a year after he returned from Japan when his muscles began to fail and his hair began falling out by the handful. Following three forest fires in Ukraine (stock image), scientists from the Norwegian Institute for Air Research measured radiation levels in the soil and atmosphere. They discovered that these fires caused around 0.5 petabecquerels of radioactive caesium to be released over eastern Europe as smoke

It's been 29 years since an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine released large doses of radiation across Europe. 

 

But the effects of that devastating event could still be affecting the continent as a result of recent forest fires in Ukraine.

 

According to new research, these fires are causing radioactive caesium in the soil around the nuclear plant to be released into the atmosphere as smoke, which then travels across Eastern Europe.

The perfect radioactive storm - those are words used by the Washington governor to highlight how the federal government is threatening to impose cuts at the same time as a storage tank at the Hanford nuclear storage facility is leaking radioactive waste.  

An editorial on the Daily Astorian explains:

There are 149 single-wall tanks at Hanford, plus 28 newer tanks with double walls. They contain residue from decades of refining plutonium for nuclear weapons, sludge that will remain deadly to living creatures for many thousands of years. 

Costly design flaws have delayed completion of a facility to convert this waste into stable glass-like rods. Now, political malpractice on the part of Congress could easily extend these delays.  “We’re out of time, obviously. These tanks are starting to fail now,” said Tom Carpenter of the Hanford watchdog group Hanford Challenge. “We’ve got a problem. This is big.”

Misrepresented as a "clean alternative" to fossil fuels, the nuclear industry has no plans to truly safely dispose of its large amounts of toxic waste.  The most they can do is hide it, which does not really protect humankind from its inherent danger.
 

They have no effective way of dealing with decommissioned plants, and no realistic plans for appropriate response in case of a catastrophic electromagnetic pulse - EMP  event - over a large part of the United States, or of a major earthquake centered at, or near, a nuclear plant. We have already watched government incompetence in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Sandy.
