But according to the myth vampires drink human blood and live forever. Now scientists say that the consumption of young mice blood reverses heart decline in older ones. After just four weeks, the older mouse's heart had reverted to almost the same size as that of its younger counterpart

Previous studies showed that an infusion of blood from young mice has rejuvenating effects on the brain of old mice, prompting new cell growth and reversing some of the effects of cognitive decline.

Since all parts of the body appear to age at the same rate, it makes sense that there should be something in the blood that coordinates ageing, says a scientist.

Arthur was a stray dog who decided to join a European Peak Performance Team during their treck through the jungle in South America. It all started when one of the members gave him a meatball.
