FIVE MYTHS ABOUT TORNADO SAFETY

  
Myth # 1 - Opening windows will equalize pressure - FALSE
Useless and dangerous. All it does is to open the way for debris to come into the house.

Myth #2 - A basement southwest corner is the safest spot - FALSE
No corner is safer than any other.

Myth #3 - When on the road, take shelter under a bridge - FALSE
If you can't outrun it, and there are no safe buildings around, lie down in a low spot away from cars (really?)

Myth #4 - Tornados never cross hills, rivers, roads - FALSE

Myth #5 - Tornados avoid big cities - FALSE.
