Blogger Debbie Schlussel said it best when writing about Ukraine: Vladimir Putin, a once, always, and forever KGB chief, versus neo-Nazis and Islam-enablers? It’s kind of like Alien v. Predator.
The same principle applies in Syria, where the choice is between tyrant Assad and extreme Islamic rebels.
And in Egypt, where it is between a secular and oppressive military government and a mix of Islamist groups intent on imposing Sharia law on everyone along with even greater oppression.
Who should the West support in cases where we have to hold our nose when examining the contending sides? Neither. Let them sort things out.
And above all, let's not put fake labels on rebel groups.
The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood was elected in "democratic" elections. Unlike pro-secular groups, they had a solid organization before the elections and dominating at the poll was easy.
Coming into power by elections doesn't make a government respectable and "democratic".

German Nazis came to power by means of elections, and so did Hamas in Gaza.
Rebelling against a tyrannical government does not turn a movement into "Freedom Fighters".
Those "rebels" in Syria are dominated by Islamic and extremely violent Islamists who have been slaughtering Christians or forcing them to convert to Islam. Their vision is not one of human rights for all, but for the imposition of their ideology on all Syrians, whether they want it or not.

Those leading the uprising in Kiev, Ukraine, are well-organized Neo-Nazi groups with support from Muslim Tartars. In fact, Neo Nazis have been fighting with and supporting Chechen Muslim terrorists.
