Four-month-old Gertjie is seen nuzzling a female member of staff from the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in South Africa with his nose. 

 

In a bid to get closer to her, the thick-skinned creature rolls down on to the floor and affectionately lays his head on her lap.  Staff at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre said it was a devastating sight finding Gertjie as the tiny animal wouldn't leave his mother's side and was 'crying inconsolably' for her.

Humans are often encouraged not to feed pigeons but this wallaby obviously didn't get the memo.   The caring marsupial was snapped offering up her lunch to an inquisitive looking feathery friend at Sydney's Featherdale Animal Park.  And as she held out her ice cream cone full of food, a cute little Joey peeked out from her mother's pouch.

REACTION:  Jerusalem Councilman Aryeh King added his condemnation of the Mass prayer services on Sunday night.

 

Writing on Facebook, King declared: "government of Israel and members of the coalition from all the coalition parties, I accuse you of collaboration and aid in harming the holy ones of Israel, the Tomb of King David!"

 

King called for masses of Jews to come visit the site on Monday in a sign of protest, saying "let us return the sanctity, and by our presence and prayer on the site prevent the implementation of the current Israeli government's plan to harm the holiness of King David's Tomb."

During the pope's visit, King refused to welcome him unless he would "bring in his suitcase the treasures of the Jewish people that were stolen by his predecessors," referencing the artifacts stolen from the Second Temple by the Romans which are widely thought to be hidden in the Vatican.
 

It is worth noting that 41 Jews were arrested between the Saturday night and Sunday morning ahead of the pope's visit, while protesting the reported plans to let Catholics hold fixed prayers which now apparently have come to fruition.

When asked about another one - French singer Patrick Bruel, who is Jewish - Le Pen said he would be part of "a batch we will get next time," using the word "fournee" for "batch", evoking the word "four" ("oven").

Snowden didn’t offer any details on this seemingly magical feat. But a group of particularly cunning iPhone hackers say it’s possible. They also say you can totally and completely turn off your iPhone so no one—not even the NSA—can use it to spy on you.

The massive toll of wild animals exterminated by the federal government as a service to everything from airports to ranches was up again last year.

 

The more than 4 million animals shot, poisoned, snared or trapped by the Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services in fiscal year 2013 included:

 

75,326 coyotes, 866 bobcats, 528 river otters, 3,700 foxes, 12,186 prairie dogs, 973 red-tailed hawks, and 419 black bears.

 

Though there’s a list of animals killed, there’s little data showing the cause for each killing, the methods used and the reasons behind mistakes that lead to massive kills of animals that aren’t targeted.

Cats don't come any more chilled out than Shironeko - the carefree looking fur ball from Japan who has quite literally mastered the art of looking happy.  So relaxed is this Japanese kitty in every pose he pulls, it's hard to tell whether he is sleeping, smiling or doing both.   And while cats have that uncanny ability to find solace in tight spaces, Shironeko finds his inner zen in some of the strangest spots imaginable.

His eyes shut, cheeks and chin puffed and lips pursed Shironeko is perhaps the happiest looking cat there is. And his zen-like looking features have earned him hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube, as part of a montage of sensationally crazy looking cats that all possess zen-like skills similar to this one.  Who can fault an animal that makes lying on a row of dirty carrots look comfortable? VOLCANO-LIKE ERUPTION IN INDIA - GROUND RIPS OPEN SPEWING FLAMES AND A HOT LIQUID STREAM

June 2014 – INDIA – A “volcano-like eruption” in Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh triggered panic among the people of the area. Reports said that flames and a hot liquid stream were seen spewing out of a hill 100 m from Gadiyada village. The village is over 200 km from Shimla.   State geologists confirmed that the eruption is a ‘small magmatic activity.’

“Gases and liquids are being emitted from holes in a 10 feet area around the hill where the volcanic activity took place,” said Ved Prakash, president of Drang panchayat. He said the eruption, unheard of in this area, caused panic among villagers.

A cow rescued from a neglectful animal hoarder is now free to roam her California ranch, but whatever you do don't call her a heifer.  Milkshake, as she's called, believes she a dog. 

 

Beth DiCaprio at the Grace Foundation says the cow trots around the El Dorado Hills ranch along with her canine best friend and even refuses to eat grass like her bovine relatives.  Milkshake is still not convinced she is a cow and has never been a fan of grazing,' DiCaprio told Caters.

 

The 1,200 pound Hereford heifer was taken in by the Grace Foundation -- a non-profit that usually only fosters needy horses -- after she was rescued from an animal hoarder who kept her locked in a cage.  'When Milkshake first arrived at the ranch she didn't even know what grass was,' said DiCaprio.

PIG IN CHINA JUMPS FOR HER LIFE OUT OF A TRUCK HEADED FOR THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE - Police have adopted her and named her Babe

This little piggy will not be going to market after escaping from a moving truck on the way to a slaughterhouse.  The sow, who has since been nicknamed Babe, after the Hollywood film, was captured jumping 16ft to freedom in south China.  A witness said the pig climbed over the backs of her fellow porkers before leaping out of the slaughterhouse van.

 

Miraculously she escaped unhurt and has now been adopted by police who responded to the incident in the Guangxi region.  ‘She was safe and sound after her leap,’ said a police spokesman, ‘but found herself lost in the big city. 

 

 ‘If we hadn’t have got to her he would have undoubtedly found himself at the end of a blade wielded by a local who would have enjoyed pork for days to come.’  He added: ‘She saw one chance of freedom by clambering on the backs of the other pigs and took it.  ‘She deserves her chance of life and she has got it. She will never be eaten here.’

 

Babe is being kept at the police station and is living happily in a pen usually reserved for a police dog.

Pictures of a terrifying supercell storm that hit New Mexico on Saturday were captured depicting the awesome size of the monolithic storm clouds.

A storm spotter watches the looming storm over Cuervo, New Mexico. Supercell storms are commonly found in the portion of the United States known as 'Tornado Alley'

 

The storm rolled through Cuervo, New Mexico, producing hailstones that were four-inches in diameter. Cuervo is a community located approximately two hours away from Albuquerque.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a supercell, which is not always a thunderstorm, is a weather phenomenon in which converging low level winds create an updraft which rotates on a vertical axis. This is also known as a mesocyclone.   Warm air in the mesocyclone can rise as fast as 170 miles per hour.

Supercells are known to create large hailstones, damaging winds, and tornadoes, and can last for hours if conditions permit. 

 

These kind of storms can take place anywhere in the world, but are most commonly found in the midwest of the United States, as well as the plains areas in South America.

Stephen Ambrose, the American historian who founded the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, believed the Allies might have tried another invasion, when ocean tides allowed. But that would have meant another year of war and suffering, and it would have lacked the strength of surprise they had at Normandy.

 

Ambrose believed that the Churchill government would have fallen, and that Franklin D. Roosevelt might not have run for his fourth term. Isolationism, rampant on both the right and left in America and Britain before the war, would have been renewed. A Charles Lindbergh or Joseph P. Kennedy might have been elected in America to reach peace with Germany as Philip Roth imagined in his novel The Plot Against America. That would have left Germany free to pursue The Final Solution to extinguish Jews, gays, Roma and millions more from Europe.

 

John Keegan, the late British military historian, pointed out that Germany's V-1 rockets became operational just days after D-Day. "Large, static concentrations of shipping," he wrote, "present targets that could be devastated with ease," which would destroy any second invasion before it could launch.

A trial is to be held entirely in secret for the first time in British history.  Two men accused of a terror plot will go into the dock at the Old Bailey in weeks.  For undisclosed reasons of national security their identities, as well as details of their alleged crimes, will not be heard in public.  The very existence of the trial can be disclosed today only because the Daily Mail fought with other media groups to have the reporting restrictions lifted.

Kerry has been notorious for assigning blame to Israel for the failure to reach an agreement with the Palestinian Authority (PA). 

 

All the while ignoring the role played by the PA's mounting and unreasonable demands and unilateral actions that have scuttled the partition talks (AKA "peace" talks) with Israel for the creation of another Arab state. 

 

Israel kept making gestures of appeasement aimed at bringing Abbas to the table, such as releasing hundreds of Palestinian terrorists from Israeli jails, freezing construction, and much more.  But it was never enough for Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.

"LONG BLINK" - US FOREIGN POLICY REGARDING PALESTINIAN TERROR.

The White House's attitude for many years - especially during this administration - has been one of keeping eyes closed to Palestinians' egregious violation of previous agreements with Israel, virulent anti-Semitic propaganda, internal corruption, and constant acts of terror against Jews. 

To the White House, Israel is always to blame for everything, even for Muslim terror throughout the world.   Muslims are angry over Israel's "occupation", they say.  Never mind that Islam has been at war with other nations or engaged in internecine violence for centuries.
