Tusnami? This ominous weather feature, spotted off the Jersey Shore on Sunday, is actually a harmless wall of fog
It looks like a scene from a disaster movie - a wall of destruction roaring towards and unprepared beach, with nothing but diminutive lifeguard towers in its way.

But this tsunami lookalike is actually harmless fog, caused by a rare combination of warm and cold air over the New Jersey shoreline.

The intimidating images, captured Sunday afternoon in Sea Girt, a town of less than 2,000, shows the ominous weather formation hovering just off the shore.

Movie scenes like this one are now part of our fantasies and nightmares:
Disaster movie: the fog looks similar to this scene from Deep Impact showing a tsunami hitting New York
The unforgettable scene from the film Deep Impact

But this New Jersey scene is nothing but a peaceful fog:
Rare: The phenomenon is caused when warm air from inland hits the cold Atlantic, causing fog to form along the coast
