WHY CAN'T EINSTEIN AND QUANTUM MECHANICS GET ALONG?

Most of the 20th Century was spent trying to unify Einstein's Relativity Theory with Quantum Mechanics, to no avail.  Some essential piece of knowledge is missing.  Could it be dark matter and dark energy?  They constitute about 97% of the universe, and are elusive and still beyond the scientists' reach.  So they are just kidding themselves when they think they can understand the universe with just a puny 3% of it for study.

Virtually everything we know about the laws of physics falls into one of two piles. In one, there's quantum mechanics, from which we've developed the "Standard Model," including all of the fundamental particles we've yet detected, and three of the four interactions: electromagnetism, and the weak and strong nuclear forces.

In the other pile, there's Einstein's theory of General Relativity, which describes the fourth force, gravity, and gives us black holes, the expansion of the universe, and the potential for time travel.

Quantum Mechanics and Relativity typically operate on vastly different scales.
