    FLORIDA IS MURDERING BEARS

The FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) had a quota of 320 bears to cull, despite complaints from protesters who believe humans and bears can co-exist.

The argument of the FWC is that at such high numbers as 3,000, on their last count, the likelihood of negative human-bear interactions rises, especially when bears are fed by humans.

Besides the bear hunt - an activity that protesters argue is only backed by a small number - other solutions have included improved rules on feeding bears and bear-proofing trash disposal systems.

This year, more than 37,000 hunters got permits, and the cull ended after two days when they reached their target numbers.
