'He was just kind of sitting guard, like a statue, just sitting there watching over his friend's body,' animal advocate Julie Fennell told NBC.

The dog was found by Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery

His friend appears to have been hit by a car and killed

Local volunteers rushed to help and took both dogs away

The dog was not microchipped and its unclear if he has an owner
