A mind warped by online Muslim violence?

Oregon college gunman made victims stand up and state their religion – then shot them anyway: Twenty-year-old shooter kills 10 and injures many more in shooting spree before being shot dead by police.

He has been identified as Chris Harper Mercer, age 26.

According to NR Today, Harper Mercer specially targeted those whom he would kill based on their belief systems. Chris allegedly lined up his victims and asked if they were Christian. If they said yes, Harper-Mercer shot them in the head. If they said no or didn’t answer, Chris shot them in the leg.

His MySpace profile shows him as "Pagan, Wiccan, Not Religious but Spiritual."

The Daily Beast reports that his father is Caucasian, while Harper-Mercer’s mother, Laurel Harper, is African American. Laurel was the second-oldest of four sisters and was raised in Torrance, California, in what Evans described as a “very upper middle class” household.

Gary Evans, 62, who was married to Harper-Mercer’s aunt, told The Daily Beast in a phone interview that when Harper-Mercer came into the world, his birth father was not in the picture. “They were separated when I first met them, and I don’t believe they ever were married,” Evans said.

An online dating profile, linked to Harper-Mercer’s email address and featuring another photo of him, says the 26-year-old was living with his parents and searching for the “yin to my yang.” It lists “organized religion” as one of his “dislikes.”

The MySpace page features a photo of Harper-Mercer holding a gun and smiling into the camera. The profile includes images of pro-Irish Republican Army propaganda.

Lithium_Love was another online identity linked to Harper-Mercer’s email address. Under this username, he posted on torrent upload sites, sometimes asking people to donate to his email address to support the file-sharing work. In a blog linked to that identity, Harper-Mercer expressed admiration for Roanoke shooter Vester Flanagan.

People “like him have nothing left to live for,” Harper-Mercer wrote on August 31. “On an interesting note, I have noticed that so many people like him are all alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are... A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems the more people you kill, the more you're in the limelight.”

Reported earlier today:

Police responded to reports of shots fired at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg at 10.40am local time

Gunman, described only as a 20-year-old male who was a student at the school, was shot in a gunfight with police and had four guns

At least part of the shooting played out at Snyder Hall in the English building on campus and police reported exchanging fire with gunman

The gunman made his victims lie on the ground and then stand up and state their religion before shooting them according to an eyewitness

He killed at least 13 according to Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum and wounded 20 others at the school

The gunman asked his victims to stand up and state their religion before he began shooting, a witness told the local News-Review newspaper. Kortney Moore, 18, was in Snyder Hall when the shooter asked people to name their religion and then began firing, she told the paper. Ms Moore also said she saw her professor shot in the head.

Police officers described how they shot at the attacker as he was standing next to a library as 35 people were ‘piled in the hall’ in fear of their lives.

The Umpqua Community College shooter appears to have targeted the science building because it is a large lecture hall and would have allowed him to cause mass casualties.

Douglas County Sheriff spokesman Gerlad Eifert said that Snyder Hall was one large room and some offices. Mr Eifert also confirmed that the building was where the shooting started.

ATF agents accompanied by K-9 units from Portland were dispatched to the campus to help with the search for explosives.

A warning message from the shooter who opened fire at an Oregon college allegedly appeared on an internet forum last night.
The message, which was posted anonymously on bulletin board 4Chan, read: 'Some of you guys are alright. Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest.'
The message continues 'happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning. so long space robots.'
The alleged post is no longer visible on the website - the cached version was first posted on Reddit after the shooting.
'Will post again in am, 10 min countdown. Won't say more to much to prepare,' the post continues.
Under the disturbing message several users advise the poster on the best ways to kill people.
One user wrote: 'I suggest you enter a classroom and tell people that you will take them as hostages. Make everyone get in one corner and then open fire.
'Make sure that there is no way that someone can disarm you as it is possible. I suggest you carry a knife on your belt as last resort if someone is holding your gun.'
While another user wrote: 'You might want to target a girls school which is safer because there are no beta males throwing themselves for their rescue.
'Do not use a shotgun. I would suggest a powerful assault rifle and a pistol or 2x pistols. Possibly the type of pistols who have 15+ ammo.'

A freshman, who had been in the science lab for class, told CNN that students had been told to get into the back room as soon as they were alerted of the shooting.

‘We heard something was happening in the middle of our biology lab,’ she said. ‘We were working in the lab and we were all kind of noisy.

‘And then we heard “we need to get in the back room now. Immediately.’

She added: ‘We were all trying to figure out what was going on. By the time we figured it out, the FBI came in and said the shooter was down.

‘We got taken outside and patted down by police officers and loaded up on buses.’
