Is popular culture something we uphold as part of our values and expect immigrants from the Middle East to embrace?   Paul Joseph Watson sees the shocking vulgarity and nihilism of our pop culture as one of the reasons why jihadis may feel justified in their desire to destroy our whole society.  Even peaceful migrants from traditional cultures can see no reason to become a part of it.

This song, I've Got You Under My Skin, here sung by Frank Sinatra, was written by Cole Porter in 1936.  Eighty years later it still sounds so good.
 
But most of the most popular pop music from the past couple of decades is already forgotten and not worth remembering.



Although long before my time, Big Band music is still full of energy, life, and magic.  I have a huge collection of Big Band music from the 1930s and 1940s, and it's excellent music to dance and exercise to.
