HELPFUL OTTER RETRIEVES TOURIST'S SMARTPHONE FROM THE WATER

A tech-savvy otter has been hailed a hero after retrieving an iPhone from a pool.

Starsky, an Asian short-clawed otter, dived into action after a tourist dropped the Apple smartphone into the murky depths of a pool at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, fearing it was lost forever.

But the nine-year-old otter dived into the tank, hauled the brightly-coloured handset to the surface and calmly handed it to speechless animal care assistant Jenny Lewis.

Starsky arrived at the sanctuary in January 2009, along with his brother Hutch. His usual tricks include juggling stones and climbing up his enclosure - although he's normally too scared to come down by himself.
