ARSENIC IN GERMAN BEERS

 
New study finds that arsenic in German beer exceeds safety limits as permitted in drinking water. Scientists tested about 150 varieties of beer and found as much as 24 micrograms of arsenic per litter.  The limit for water is 10 micrograms.
 
Arsenic enters the beer through the filtration process, and Germany is not the only country to have this toxic heavy metal in beer.

Germans consume 107 liters of beer per capita a year, the second highest in the world after the Czechs with 132 liters.   The United States is 12th with 78 liters, and Canada 23rd with 68.
