MYSTERY IN THE AMAZON - TINY WHITE SPIRES SURROUNDED BY FENCES

Something isn't right with this story. Hasn't anyone put these structures under an electronic microscope? Done a DNA analysis?

It's these 21st century scientists apparent cluelessness that is most baffling of all. Maybe it's all a hoax. As if we needed any more of them.

A mysterious structure which has appeared in the Peruvian Amazon - and appears to be a spire surrounded by a white picket fence - is baffling scientists.

The first of the structures was spotted just months ago on June 7, by Troy Alexander, a graduate student at Georgia Tech. He discovered the bizarre formation on the bottom of some blue tarpaulin close to the Tambopata Research Center, in southeastern Peru. He then found three more of the enclosures on tree trunks in the jungle.

He told the Wired Magazine that the fences measured around two centimeters across.

Scientists are baffled and can't identify which animal may be responsible for the structures
