Thousands at risk of fatal "Valley Fever"
"Valley Fever" is commonly spread by toxic soil dust in windy conditions. More than 160,000 people living in arid parts of the country get the potentially fatal condition every year, and one in a thousand cases is fatal. It is caused by a fungus known as coccidioides, which is carried by soil dust. The illness needs to be treated early on, but not many physicians are fully aware of the symptoms.
