2300 YEAR OLD MAYAN PYRAMID BULLDOZED BY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
The company claims it was a mistake, but a professor says that “bulldozing Maya mounds for road fill is an endemic problem in Belize".
“I don’t think I am exaggerating if I say that every day a Maya mound is being destroyed for construction in one of the countries where the Maya lived,” says another expert.
The ancient Mayas spread across southeastern Mexico and through Guatemala, Honduras and Belize.

NOTE: Many valuable ancient buildings have been partly destroyed and used as quarries for later construction. The reason why the Colosseum looks as it does, with large parts missing, is that it was used as a source of stone for other buildings later on, including churches and palaces.
