WHILE THE MEDIA OBSESSES OVER ISRAEL AND GAZA - YAZIDIS IN IRAQ ARE DYING OF THIRST AND HUNGER, fleeing threat of slaughter by MUSLIM group ISIS. Hundreds stranded on mountains with no food or water

MUSLIM GROUP ISIS HAS BEEN ON A RAMPAGE FOR A LONG TIME, COMMITTING ATROCITIES AGAINST MINORITIES.

WHY SUCH INTERNATIONAL INDIFFERENCE?

Where are the demonstrations in major world cities?
The petitions?
The outrage online?
Where are the denunciations of genocide?

While the White House berated the Israeli Prime Minister for the inevitable deaths occurred when Israel hit rocket launching sites in Gaza, which had been deliberately placed inside schools, hospitals and private residences, minorities in Iraq were suffering actual genocide.  Nobody noticed.  Till now, when reporters turned their eyes away from Gaza for a moment.

Daily Mail - August 6 - Up to 40,000 Iraqi Yazidis forced to choose between dying of thirst... or slaughter by extremists: Refugees stranded on mountain surrounded by ISIS waiting to kill them.  They were driven from the town of Sinjar by ISIS over the weekend and have already been forced to bury at least 20 children who succumbed to the harsh conditions on Mount Sinjar.

Yazidis follow an ancient religion with links to Zoroastrianism.

At least 40 children from those displaced from Sinjar were killed in the violence in the area, UNICEF said yesterday.

Kurdish fighters from Iraq, Syria and Turkey were co-ordinating operations in northern Iraq to reclaim areas lost to the jihadists and rescue thousands of civilians stranded in the nearby mountains, it was reported by AFP.

Iraqi helicopters have dropped some supplies, but officials warned the process of providing safe passage would take days.

UPDATES

USA to drop some food and water on hundreds of dying Yazihis, after so many have already died.  No offer of protection, rescue or asylum.

The Guardian - While those who have managed to flee the Christian areas have so far had a relatively safe passage to Irbil, the tens of thousands of Yazidis remain besieged near Sinjar, with little food or water. The UN said it was able to get some supplies overland to the stranded hordes – avoiding Isis fighters who have surrounded most of Mount Sinjar.

The Chaldean archbishop of Kirkuk, Joseph Thomas, described the situation in northern Iraq as "catastrophic, a crisis beyond imagination". He demanded urgent intervention to save what remained of the area's Christian heritage.

Kurdish officials on Thursday demanded more help in catering for refugees. The Kurdish administered areas have seen staggering numbers cross their notional border since the original Isis onslaught two months ago. In the first week alone, some 500,000 people are thought to have fled towards Irbil.

The past 11 years of war and insurrection since the US invasion have led to most of Iraq's Christians fleeing. Numbers have plummeted starkly from an estimated one million before 2003 to around 150,000 now. A large number of those who remain are now displaced.
