MASSIVE STARFISH DIE OFF ON CANADA'S WEST COAST

The waters off British Columbia, Canada, are littered with dead starfish, and researchers have no idea what’s causing it.
 
Marine biologist Jonathan Martin wrote to a researcher at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC:
 
“[The starfish] seem to waste away, ‘deflate’ a little, and then just … disintegrate. The arms just detach, and the central disc falls apart."

There is a possibility that Fukushima radioactive contamination of the Pacific Ocean may have something to do with this.

The article also mentions a starfish die-off on the East Coast. That part of the world has also been under attack by one recent major oil spill and the chemicals used to "clean up" the oil.
