MOTHER POLAR BEAR AND HER CUB SHARE THE LOOK OF LOVE

  • A mother polar bear delighted crowds at Russia's Novosibirsk Zoo, as she played with her newborn cub Shila.
  • Although polar bears can be fearsome, mother bear Gerda could not have seemed more gentle as she let the newborn clamber all over her as they rolled in the snow. 
  • The enchanting moment was captured by photographer Kirill Kukhmar, as Gerda showed off her new baby to onlookers.

Resting: In some photographs the two are more gentle, cuddling up against each other while Gerda takes the chance for some shut-eye

 Family: In December 2013, Gerda also gave birth to the first polar bear born in Siberia in 40 years at the same zoo - a cub called Shilka
 Babies can really leave you exhausted.
