THE TYRANNY OF IDEALISM - And how the left and their allies, such as Muslim activists in the West, use their demands for unrealistic standards of behavior in order to weaken and undermine entire societies - Afro-Americans decry racism but some of their leaders and communities are rife with anti-white and anti-Semitic racism

When you meet a leftist demagogue who wants to bring about drastic changes to a Western country, he will have a list of complaints and demands, and standards by which he expects that society to live.  However, if you ask him to name just one society that lives up to his expectations, he will quickly change the subject.  There isn't any.

Some examples:

1) America is often accused of racism and discrimination.  But those laying those charges are hard put to name even one single country - particularly where blacks or Muslims are in charge - where there is no discrimination, often of a violent kind.

Muslim countries are notorious for their mistreatment of Christian minorities.  Muslims of Shia and Sunni sects blow up each other's mosques because of centuries-old disagreements.  But Muslims living in the West get extremely sensitive to the slightest shortcoming of their own interpretation of multiculturalism, and often turn to lawsuits to get their way.  A Pakistani Muslim woman recently sued Canada to be allowed to cover up her face during her citizenship swearing ceremony - and won.

Afro-Americans riot in anger at white racism.  But African countries treat their citizens much worse than the US treats its non-white population.  Furthermore, African countries are routinely on the news for resorting to gruesome violence - even genocide - in their treatment of minorities, or rival tribes or religious groups.

There is also widespread black racism against whites, involving violent attacks and even murder, all based on race.  There is also a long tradition of black anti-Semitism.  But nobody wants to talk about that.

2)  Europe - is expected to commit suicide by absorbing millions of Muslims just because things are harsh in their native countries as a result of conflicts of their own making.  All in the name of European compassion and multiculturalism, regardless of the migrants' ideologies of Islamic supremacism, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism, hate, violence, and intolerance.   Those who object are accused of being racists.  A perfect example of using a society's own ideals in order to destroy it.

3)  Israel is held up to higher standards than any other country in the world.  There are many reasons for it, and this is not the time to elaborate.  Suffice it to say that Muslim Arabs living as Israeli citizens or under Palestinian Authority rule live much better and peaceful lives than other Palestinians living in Arab countries.  See how Palestinians are discriminated against by their own Arab brothers on an article at the end of this page.

Continue reading, including references to the Arab Spring, the recent Canadian election, and column by author Daniel Greenfield on The Tyranny of Idealism

When the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) was in Jordan, before it was allowed to move to Israel, their subversive antics irritated Jordanian authorities so much that in 1970-71 they murdered 3,000 to 5,000 Palestinians in a repressive campaign that culminated in what is now called the Black September massacre.  Survivors were expelled.

So if you ask a Palestinian, or a western pro-Palestinian activist, to show you the model society for the much demanded Palestinian State, there is no Arab country that reflects even a fraction of their expectations.  Arab countries are all dysfunctional tyrannies that oppress their citizens, and even mass-murder them.

4)  A Palestinian State - The White House and the European Union continue with their obsessive demand for Israel's partition.  If a Palestinian state is ever created, you can be sure that within days it would disintegrate into bloodshed, and end up under the control of ISIS or other brutal Islamist faction.  The Palestinians would become one more displaced population, asking for asylum elsewhere.

There are precedents for Palestinian governmental dysfunction.  The PA's ruling Fatah is notorious for its corruption, repressive measures, and long overdue elections.  Gaza is under ruthless and corrupt Hamas dictatorship.

Demands for Israel's partition, or the many other demands presented in the name of "justice" are a ruse to create conditions leading to Israel's dismantlement, or to create borders 9 miles wide - so untenable that they can only serve to expedite the destruction of the country.

The fact that Israel has been Jewish land for thousands of years -  although occupied by other nations such as the Romans, the Arabs, and the Turks - and that Muslims arrived there as conquerors in the 7th century, does not prevent pro-Palestinian activists from accusing Israel of being an 'occupier' of its own land.

5)  The Obama administration facilitated the now discredited Arab Spring, which resulted not only in the toppling of strongmen who were the best option to keep those countries under control, but in the unleashing of civil wars that are still burning in Syria, Iraq, and other hot spots.
EGYPT
Countries such as Libya are now falling into the hands of ISIS, while Syria and Iraq have broken up, and large swathes of territory are in the hands of terrorist factions.

Egypt managed to depose the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood (photo on the right) that had taken advantage of the Arab Spring to take over government, something that the pro-Muslim Brotherhood president Obama still finds unforgivable.

The Democrats "idealism" and their effort to show solidarity with the Muslim and to sell them democracy - a concept that is completely at odds with Islam - brought about nothing but chaos, carnage, and the displacement of millions of people who used to have somewhat orderly lives.

The following essay by author Daniel Greenfield is relevant today, in the aftermath of the Canadian national election where the leftist Liberal Party obtained a majority of votes, toppling the Conservative Party government of Stephen Harper after nine years in power.

Justin Trudeau, head of the Liberal party, is regarded as an idealist.  He is a gentler version of Barack Obama but just as intent on "change," a euphemism meaning the dismantling of the principles that make a society moral and a country strong.   The party behind him is not gentle, however.  It is ruthless and with a history of endemic corruption.

Justin Trudeau
praying with Muslims
The Liberal plan is to bring in  hundreds of thousands of Middle East migrants into Canada during the next four years - with much weaker security measures than the Conservatives had in place - in order to change Canada's demographics, thus ensuring themselves of a voting base forever.  People on benefits become dependent on the party whose policy is to keep them on benefits.

Barring some egregious political scandal by the Liberals, it is doubtful that the Conservatives will ever return to power in Canada again.

In the following article Greenfield denounces the left, and its demand for purity and idealism in government policy as a malevolent way to demoralize and eventually destroy the society they hate so much.

The Tyranny of Idealism

By Daniel Greenfield

Of all the Alinsky rules, the most relevant one is, "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

But he simply codified and made pragmatic the most destructive of the left's rules which is, "Make the enemy live up to his ideals." Even if those ideals are often the invention of the left.

Ideals are by definition impossible to live up to. Human societies aren't ideal, they're real. Ideals are absolutes and an unflinching attempt to live up to them destroys individuals and societies. More subtly, the failure to live up to them justifies hatred and self-hatred toward nations and peoples.

People naturally want to think the best of their creeds and cultures, their societies and their states. This is both the best weapon and the best breeding ground of the left.

There is nothing that creates leftists and draws them like the accusation that a nation is failing to live up to its ideals.

Absolutes are a goad, but they are not an answer.

A nation is not an ideal. It is a structure that allows people to live.

A nation pursuing an ideal is a prison. It is the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. It is North Korea. Or it's Europe swamping its cities with Muslims, or Israel pursuing a "purity of arms" that its enemies do not abide by.

The pursuit of such ideals is a death wish. It's a totalitarian suicide.

Religions embody ideals. Nations do not.

A religion is built around a deity that can forgive its worshipers for their flaws. The wheel of sin turns toward redemption.

Failure in religion is itself a learning experience that allows for self-improvement. Unless warped, it does not lead to a state of self-hatred, self-destruction and death.

But the state has no God. It is a bureaucratic idol composed of activist politicians and their clerks. It cannot redeem itself. Only damn itself.
When it pursues an ideal, it borrows the narrative of religion without any divine understanding.

Fanatics stand at the helm who are corrupt and goaded to extremes by their own failures, made incapable of forgiveness by their own human weaknesses.

The ideal state is a cult.
At its head is the cult of personality.

It ends with Jim Jones dispensing the Kool Aid. Or Israel's PM Rabin shaking Arafat's hand. Or Merkel opening the borders. Or Obama rattling through another teleprompter speech filled with borrowed inspirations and empty hopes.

The ideal state can only find its redemption in death. The death of states is the grand gesture that inspires leftists to believe that "Imagine" is the anthem of the future.

What the state cannot do, the planetary collective will somehow accomplish. And yet the ideal state was the collective that was meant to accomplish what individuals could not do.

A state in pursuit of an ideal must always fail and in its failure discredit itself. The process of failure teaches self-hatred.

Think about how each time that America or Israel struggles to conduct a pure war that kills the fewest enemies possible, it only intensifies the wave of hatred and self-hatred indoctrinated by the left at each failure.

It is the pursuit of an impossible ideal that feeds the hatred. The closer we come to an impossible notion of a pure war, the more our failures are used to spread shame and disgust.
In the tyranny of idealism, superior morality is not rewarded, it is punished.

Those closest to the ideal feel the failures most keenly. Those furthest from it are completely immune to them.

A nation that genuinely values ideals can be taunted for failing to live up to them.

It is the nation's own weakness for exceptionalism that makes it vulnerable. Once the exceptionalism is made conditional on impossible ideals, then it can be goaded to destroy itself by trying to live up to them.

There is nothing that saps morale and clouds decision making like the failure to live up to one's ideals. Once ideals define perspective, then the nation begins the race to the abyss of those ideals.

Functional nations pursue practical goals that are in the interest of their peoples.

Ideal states are gulags, concentration camps, where human beings are tools for achieving ideals.

A functional nation can be free, but an ideal state must be totalitarian no matter how often it prates about freedom.

A nation can only be free when it accepts human flaws and frailties.

An ideal state loves freedom, but hates free people. It cannot accept individualism or the wisdom of crowds. It bends them to its ideal.

The only way to escape the tyranny of idealism is for a nation to accept its flaws.

Once a people become susceptible to the tyranny of idealism, they begin to accept that their lives are conditional on the fulfillment of a set of ideals. And that they can therefore be sacrificed to them.

It follows them that America and Israel must accept the death of its people at the hands of terrorists rather than violate some impossible ideal about civilian casualties when fighting terrorists.

Scale that moral calculus up to the nuclear and this ideal mandates that nations must die rather than fight back.

Likewise, Europe's refugee idealism demands that it accept hordes of invaders even at the cost of its existence, because its existence is conditional on ideals rather than realities.

Survival by violating ideals becomes a fate worse than death. Religious martyrdom becomes a secular national suicide.

In this environment, the left thrives.

Every failure of ideals becomes a cause for self-hatred. The peoples of the free world are taught that they violate their own values by living. Even their passive existence is a carbon crime, a volitional act of white privilege, that can never be wiped clean. Every attempt at self-defense, every attempt at existence, deepens their crime. The only escape is death.

Leftist politics pretends to offer ideals it is for, but it most acutely campaigns not for, but against.

The leftist activist knows the society that he hates better than the one he loves, he has a much clearer understanding of the world that he wants to destroy than the world he wishes to create.

His politics are not creative, they are destructive. He has been nurtured on the foul milk of self-hatred.

It has taught him to love himself by hating others.

His arrogance is a contempt for an ordinary mass of people he fancies himself superior to because he wishes to destroy their way of life and remake it along some impossible ideal.

The remaking cannot be done, but the destruction is always feasible. The leftist is always destroying someone else to atone for his own failure of ideals.

This is the way of the left. Its leaders and societies are predatory failures, consuming and destroying the life force of their peoples, and then expanding to destroy their neighbors and the world.

The collective buck is always passed to some new group of victims and suckers. It will be their job to make the failed ideals of the past viable through sacrifices, self-hatred and self-destruction.

What the leftist does best is teach self-hatred.

It is the main course in our educational system today. Its students are taught to despise their family, their culture, their religion, their way of life and their nation for failing to live up to the tainted ideals of the left. And to gain their self-worth through a rejection of these things and the embrace of their destruction. And so the leftist is born.

A set of ideals whose fulfillment requires our destruction reveals either our falseness or their falseness. The answer distinguishes the fanatic from the philosopher. Only the fanatic demands that people pursue ideals which will destroy them, whose terms make their existence impossible.

Our leftist philosopher-kings are not philosophers, they are feudal fanatics who bind peoples to ideals that destroy them because it feeds their twisted madness and their sense of superiority.

They are not interested in the terms on which people can actually exist. They are not interested in people at all except as subjects for their gleeful malice and as puppets for their political psychodramas.

The absolute is never the answer except to the tyrant. And only a madman filled with hatred demands that a nation choose between self-hatred and self-destruction.

Human existence is the only possible resistance to the inhuman demands of the ideal state. This is the restating of the Declaration of Independence that governments exist for the life, liberty and happiness of human beings, not for the fulfillment of ideals which would destroy them.

Governments are not meant for angels, but for men. A state exists to enable, first the existence, second the freedom, and third the happiness of human beings, in exactly that order of importance.

A state whose policies destroy human existence has nullified itself. A state may only nullify their freedom if the very question of their existence is in question. And it may only nullify their happiness for their freedom. These are human terms. No other terms are either wanted or acceptable.

Governments are not religions and no political movement can place its pet philosopher in place of God. No man can demand more of other men. Only God can demand the impossible because He can also grant the impossible. No political system can forgive. It can only amass more guilt and sin, more hatred and self-hatred, more madness and destruction. Human beings cannot exceed themselves.

A healthy idealism aspires to a more human state of living. It does not demand absolutes. An idealism that demands absolutes is a trap. It is easy to tell the difference between the two.

Human ideals feel better about themselves as they improve. Inhuman ones feel worse because the ideal is never meant to be reached. An irreligious absolute offers no redemption. Instead the failure to do the impossible becomes the means of breaking people of their human qualities and making them into monsters.

We can only achieve human terms of existence for nations and peoples by accepting our flaws. Perfection is as impossible for a people as it is for a person. And within our flaws, we create an existence that is not based on the collective impossibilities of an ideal, but on the realizable goodness of our human flaws.

Instead of seeking to create a perfect state, we individually become better people.

Instead of the tyranny of idealism creating monsters, we give ourselves the freedom to be human beings.

Instead of building suicidal ideal states, we create societies in which we have the freedom to be good while refusing to lapse into a self-hatred borne of frustrated idealism which prevents us from seeing the goodness of our fellow men and the evil of our enemies.

DISCRIMINATION AND ABUSE AGAINST PALESTINIANS - BY ARAB COUNTRIES

YOU DON'T READ THIS ON THE MEDIA:

Arab discrimination and abuse against Palestinians since 1948, when Israel was reconstituted.
I have never seen a comprehensive list of examples of how Arabs have abused, mistreated and discriminated against their Palestinian brethren.  Here is a short outline.  There's much more.

All Arab countries except Jordan:

Palestinians are not allowed to become citizens of Arab countries, in accordance with Arab League Decree 1547 for 1959, "in order to preserve the Palestinian entity and Palestinian identity." Even in Jordan they can no longer become citizens. (There have been some exceptions: Palestinian Christians in Lebanon in the 1950s, Palestinians born from Egyptian mothers in 2011.)

Palestinians face severe travel restrictions throughout the Arab world. They do not receive passports and their travel documents are only accepted by a few countries.

Palestinians cannot vote or run for office in national elections.

Children born to Palestinians do not get citizenship in their host countries, violating Article 7 of the
Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Jordan:

1967: Jordan refused to allow Gazans who came after the Six Day War to become Jordanian citizens.
Today some 165,000 Palestinians in Jordan cannot become citizens and get no government services.

1970:
3500-5000 Palestinians killed and 20,000 Palestinians expelled, their camps demolished, in the Black September events.

1988:
Jordan
revoked citizenship for millions of West Bank Palestinians as they declared "independence." As usual, this move was justified as being for their own good.

2010:
Jordan
continued to revoke citizenship for thousands more Palestinians

2012: Jordan
passed an electoral law that effectively limits the number of Palestinian members of Parliament to less than 10%

2013: Jordan places Palestinian refugees from Syria in
special camps that they cannot leave, separate from other refugees, and turns hundreds or thousands back to a dangerous future in Syria.

2014: Palestinians who are citizens are
still denied equal rights in the military, and on getting college scholarships and being admitted to some public universities, among other areas.

Egypt:

1948: Placed all Palestine refugees that reached Egypt into camps, forced men to go back to Palestine to fight.

1949: Expelled all Palestinian from Egyptian camps into Gaza. Very few Palestinian Arabs were left in Egypt.

1950: Egypt refused any UNRWA presence on its territory, relegating it to Gaza.

1949 - 1956: Any Palestinians in Egypt were barred from schooling and employment.

2013: Hundreds of Palestinian refugees from Syria
placed into jail as they try to enter Egypt

2013-now: Egypt has effectively closed the Rafah border with Gaza, even limiting hospital patients from traveling, effectively imprisoning 1.7 million Gazans.

Lebanon:

1950-58: Would only issue one-way travel documents for Palestinians to leave the country

1962: Palestinians classified as "foreigners":

73 job categories banned for Palestinians until 2010; now there are "only" 50 jobs off limits
They are still banned from working as physicians, journalists, pharmacists or lawyers.
They are not permitted to build new houses or own property, or even to repair their homesMartial law imposed on refugee camps. Army stops people from entering and exiting.
Limitations on schools for Palestinian "foreigners"
Not allowed to live outside refugee camps, which in turn are not allowed to grow. Population of camps is now triple capacity.
Palestinians not allowed to create organizations.

1975-78: At least 5000 Palestinians killed in Lebanese civil war

1985-88: Thousands killed in "
War of the Camps"

1995: Law prohibiting Palestinians from entering country
without a visa; and visas weren't issued. Those expelled from Gulf states could not return to Lebanon. (Law repealed in 1999.)

2005:
Specific laws prohibiting foreigners who are not "nationals of a recognized state" - Palestinians - from owning property. Those who owned it previously cannot pass it to their children.

2007: 31,000 Palestinians homeless because while Lebanese Army destroyed Nahr el Balad camp.

2013: Some 50,000 refugees from Syria treated differently from other Syrian refugees; expensive temporary short-term visas effectively make them criminals

2013: Lebanon starts
turning some Palestinian Syrian refugees away at the border

Kuwait:

1991: 400,000 Palestinians were harassed and forced out of the country.

Libya:

1994-5:
Expelled 30,000 Palestinians, dismissed many from their jobs and confiscated their houses

Arab countries refused to take in the new refugees. Hundreds were stranded in the desert or the sea. Eventually Libya allowed some to stay but kept threatening to expel them again. In the end about 15,000 were forced to go to Arab countries they had documents for, Gulf countries, and Western nations.

2011: Palestinians were forced to pay
a special tax of $1550.

2012:
Many Palestinians lost their homes as properties were claimed by others in the wake of the revolution and the collapse of the judicial system.

Iraq:

Early 1950s: Expelled striking Palestinian workers, along with Saudi Arabia and Libya..

2005: After Saddam Hussein lost power, Palestinians in Iraq were subjected to
abduction, hostage-taking, killing and torture from armed groups. Politicians derided them. About 15,000 were forced to leave Iraq. Thousands were stranded in camps in the desert between Iraq and Syria, where no Arab country would allow them to enter.

Qatar:

1994:
Refused to grant Palestinians work visas.

Syria:

1970:  Palestinians cannot vote, cannot run for office, cannot own farmland, cannot own more than one property..

2005-2008: Syria did not allow thousands of Palestinian Arab refugees fleeing from Iraq to enter the country.

 2012-today: Some
2000 Palestinians killed so far in Syria's war. About 50 have starved to death as forces cut off all food and water to the Yarmouk camp.
