The touching image of the first time Tianxia felt the softness of grass under his huge paws has become an internet sensation.

It was shot by the Black Jaguar White Jaguar Foundation, declaring: “Tianxia’s first minutes with us after being rescued from the circus. He never stepped on grass before…”

The Mexican-based foundation was set up by Eduardo Serio after he was touched by the story of an orphaned black jaguar cub in Mexico and has now gone on to save many felines “from a life of terror in circuses, zoos, and breeders”.

 

It says Tianxia was rescued from the same circus as another of its big cats called Britney.  “We received him without fangs and many teeth lost,” says the foundation. “He likes to cuddle and he is very happy in his new home.”
