Slaughter turns the sea red with blood: Horrifying scenes as fishermen chase 250 whales onto a beach in the Faroe Islands and locals leap into the water with glee to stab them to death.
  • WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
  • The brutal slaughtering of pilots whales took place at Bøur and Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands
  • Locals dressed in wetsuits wade into the water, and use knifes and harpoons to hack all the whales to death
  • Close footage shows some of the huntsmen laughing and smiling, droplets of blood dripping down from their sweaty brows.
  • Danish Navy ships were nearby to protect the massacre operation from protesters of the Sea Shepherd Society as evidence of Denmark's collaboration with this inhumane act.
  • Although whaling is illegal in Denmark, the annual hunt, known as the grindadráp, is allowed in the Faroe Islands
  • The Faroes Islands are an independent country within the kingdom of Denmark.

  • Witnesses: Slain on the beaches, hundreds of locals come down to watch the brutal slaughter
The annual fun of massacring whales.  Faroes Islands inhabitants enjoy their much awaited orgy of cruelty and violence against defenseless and innocent animals.

Their bodies lie beached on the dark shore, large slash marks penetrate the neck and sides of the whale as the blood mixes with the cold water.

Known as the grindadráp, the brutal slaughtering of pilots whales in the Danish owned Faroe Islands took place on July 23.

As many as 250 whales were reportedly massacred on two beaches in Bøur and Tórshavn as locals used harpoons and knifes to hack the all of the pilot whales to death.

Contemplating: Local Faroese men reflect in the bloodstained water after the horrendous hunt, which is known as the grindadráp
Northern Europeans, all of them.  This is not happening in some place away from civilization, or because of a religious ritual excuse.

This is done by Europeans for the sheer SADISTIC fun of making captured animals suffer by killing them in the most gruesome manner.

Shame!  Shame on all of them, the perpetrators and the spectators.  And shame on Denmark for condoning and protecting this brutal yearly massacre of animals that never hurt anyone.

Arrested: Five Sea Shepherd activists were arrested by police on the Faroe Islands as they tried to stop the hunt
The horrific scenes were filmed by activists from Sea Shepherd, a non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organisation.

As the innocent whales are forced to swim towards the beaches, the locals begin to run down from the jetty towards the sea.

Realising they are unable to escape, the whales slow down as the fishermen in their power boats and dinghies begin to close in on the large school of whales.

The locals, many of whom are dressed in full wetsuits and bobble hats, wade into the water and begin to violently drag the distressed animals up the beach.

    About the Faroe Islands:

They are an archipelago halfway between Norway and Iceland, 320 kilometres (200 mi) north-northwest of Great Britain. The area is approximately 1,400 km2 (540 sq mi) with a 2015 population of 48,700.

The islands are an autonomous country within the Danish kingdom.  The Faroese have control of most domestic matters; areas that remain the responsibility of Denmark include military defence, police, justice, currency and foreign affairs.

The Faroe Islands have representation in the Nordic Council as members of the Danish delegation. (Wikipedia)

Prepared: Running down the beaches, the locals prepare to drag the whales in and kill them

Whilst the pilot whale may not be endangered, the level of brutality and depraved violence is shocking.

The Faroese have been carrying out the annual hunt for hundreds of years, and although whaling is illegal in Denmark, it is allowed in the Faroe Islands.

All the hunted whales are used for their food, with pilot whale meat and flubber being the main products used by the Faroese.

British comedian Ricky Gervais raised awareness of the vile whale slaughter, commenting on a graphic photo on social meda: 'Tragic whale slaughter in Faroe Islands. It's good we've found a twin Earth because we're really f**king up this one.'

Sea of blood: The water quickly turns red with the gushing blood from the great animal's bodies
The fun of killing.  These men don't even wear wet suits.  They immerse themselves in the blood of their victims.

Massacred: Using harpoons and knives, the stranded pilot whales were slaughtered on the beaches

Using an array of weapons, including sharp knives and harpoons, the locals begin to hack at the animals, slicing at their fatty necks and puncturing their sides.

The water quickly begins to turn red with all the blood as one by one, the whales are ruthlessly slaughtered by the heartless locals.

    Sea Shepherd Society reports:

CEO of Sea Shepherd Global, Captain Alex Cornelissen, has said, “Anyone who knows Rosie knows how passionately she cares for animals. Seeing Rosie and Christophe thrown to the ground today for defending these whales, and then dragged away as the carnage began, was an absolutely heart-wrenching sight.”

A further two crewmembers of the Sea Shepherd fast trimaran Brigitte Bardot, Marianna Baldo of Italy and Xavier Figarella of France, were also detained at Bøur.

The pair was in the Brigitte Bardot’s tender at the time they were apprehended. Police have not yet confirmed if Baldo and Figarella will be facing charges.

Captain of the Brigitte Bardot, Wyanda Lublink, reports that the Danish Navy vessels HDMS Triton and HDMS Knud Rasmussen were both in the region at the time of the Bøur slaughter.

“It was perfectly clear to me that the Danish Navy was present at Bøur to guard the grindadráp, and that the slaughter would proceed with the full consent of the Danish Navy.

How Denmark - an anti-whaling member nation of the European Union, subject to laws prohibiting the slaughter of cetaceans – can attempt to justify its collaboration in this slaughter is incomprehensible ” said Captain Lublink.

DENMARK ACCUSED OF HELPING FAROE ISLANDS BLOOD ORGY OF FISHERMEN MASSACRING WHALES FOR FUN

An Australian woman is one of 14 anti-whaling protesters who have been arrested on the Faroese Island of Sandoy on Saturday, after unsuccessfully trying to stop the mass slaughter of 33 pilot whales.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society volunteers entered the water to prevent the massacre, when they were allegedly intercepted by the Danish Navy.  Amongst the arrested volunteers was Australian citizen, Krystal Keynes from Perth.

Footage shows the Sea Shepherd volunteers being forcibly taken into custody by police on the shore, whilst the whales are brutally hacked to death on the water’s edge behind them.

Sea Shepherd founder Captain Paul Watson accuses the Danish navy of showing its support for Faroese whalers, explaining that by intervening with the Sea Shepherd volunteers the Danish navy assisted in the illegal slaughter of 33 whales.

For 85 days, the volunteers have been defending whales from slaughter as a part of ‘Operation Grindstop 2014.’  The Sea Shepherd activists use boats to direct pods of whales away from the threat of whalers on the 18 Faroe islands.

Three of the Sea Shepherd vessels were seized by the navy, including the ‘B.S. Sheen’ – a small boat that was donated by American actor, Charlie Sheen, who has spoken out against ‘atrocity’ that took place on Saturday.

'The Faroese whalers brutally slaughtered an entire pod of 33 pilot whales today, several generations taken from the sea, and Denmark is complicit in the killing,' actor Charlie Sheen told the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in a statement from the foundation.

'I am proud that a vessel bearing my name was there and did all it could to try to stop this atrocity.'

'The 40-foot Zodiac called the 'BS SHEEN' that I donated to Mr. Watson's tireless and heroic efforts, has been shamefully seized. This level of insidious and vicious corruption must be dealt with swiftly and harshly,' reportedly told the Foundation.

'The positive side of this encounter is we now have evidence to implicate the Danish government and Sea Shepherd will take this evidence to the European Parliament to demand that action be taken against Denmark for collaboration with an illegal slaughter of whales,' Captain Watson wrote on his official Facebook page.

'We have the evidence that pilot whale blood in on the hands of Danish sailors and Danish Police. What is rotten in the Faroes is also very much rotten in Denmark.'  'Sea Shepherd calls upon all of its supporters to speak out against this horrific loss of life. Please contact the government of Denmark and ask them to end the horrific, archaic ‘grind’ and release Sea Shepherd volunteers at once.'

Warned by their own Faroes Chief Medical officer:
Whale meat is not fit for human consumption.

On 26 November 2008, the Chief Medical Officer in the Faroes, Dr Høgni Debes Joensen, together with Dr Pál Weihe of the Department of Public and Occupational Health, issued a joint press statement with a recommendation that the meat and blubber of pilot whales was no longer fit for human consumption because of the  high levels of mercury and other toxins that accumulate in the meat and organs of the whales and a comparatively high incidence of Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and other serious health issues in the Faroes linked to these contaminants.
