SOUTH AFRICAN UNION LEADER CALLS FOR POGROM AGAINST JEWS - The disturbing increase in South African racism, violence and murder against whites, and against black immigrants from other African countries

Turning to the police and the South African Human Rights Commission, the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) initiated on Thursday both criminal and civil charges against Tony Ehrenreich, provincial secretary of the Western Cape branch of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, for hate speech and incitement to violence against the Jewish community’s leadership.

Ehrenreich published a post on August 13 on his Facebook page accusing the SAJBD of being “complicit in the murder of the people in Gaza” and calling for attacks on them whenever a woman or child in Gaza was killed.

“The time has come to say very clearly that if a woman or child is killed in Gaza, then the Jewish board of deputies, who are complicit, will feel the wrath of the People of SA with the age old biblical teaching of an eye for an eye,” he wrote. “The time has come for the conflict to be waged everywhere the Zionist supporters fund and condone the war killing machine of Israel.”

“Ehrenreich’s inflammatory post incites violence and hatred against the representative body for South African Jewry. What makes it even worse is the fact that he holds a leadership position within COSATU, South Africa’s largest trade union organisation. It also comes at a time of heightened tension over the Israel-Gaza conflict, thereby inflaming an already volatile situation,” said SAJBD Chairman Mary Kluk.

On Thursday, Ehrenreich denied in a tweet that he was anti-Semitic.

The South African government  has led a vicious campaign against Israel, unjustly accusing it of "apartheid".  So we can understand how Mr Ehrenreich would feel encouraged and sanctioned by his society to launch such a despicable attack on South African Jews.

2012 - South Africa lurches into Anti-Semitism

2013 -  Israeli minister Avigdor Liebermann urges South African Jews to move to Israel, in face of genocidal threat.

Liberman accused the South African administration of double standards over the deaths of almost three dozen striking miners last year, and for failing to condemn acts of violence in other African nations, but focusing on alleged crimes by Israel.

“This is the same government whose police force just a year ago shot and killed 34 miners who dared to strike and then wanted to prosecute the survivors using apartheid-era laws,” he wrote. “The same government that does not balk at events in its neighboring countries, such as the murder of journalists in Mali and protesters in Kenya, is primarily concerned with what is happening to the Palestinians thousands of kilometers away. “

“The South African government is creating an anti-Israel and anti-Semitic atmosphere, which will result in pogroms against the country’s Jews. I call on all Jews still living there to make aliya as soon as possible, before it is too late,” he said.

Mandela was an enemy of Israel
In 1990, Mandela likened Israel to a “terrorist state” and declared that “we do not regard the PLO as a terrorist organization. If one has to refer to any parties as a terrorist state, one might refer to the Israeli government because they are the people who are slaughtering defenseless and innocent Arabs in the occupied territories”.

Mandela should have raised Jewish eyebrows when in 1990 he embraced Arafat in Lusaka, Zambia, likening the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to the struggle against South African apartheid. “If the truth alienates the powerful Jewish community in South Africa, that’s too bad”, said Mandela.

Perhaps Mr Ehrenreich should take a closer look at his own country, South Africa, where there is an ongoing racist campaign of murder against white South Africans, and blatant discrimination and violence against black immigrants from other African countries.  Read further:
