This was in response to a unamed man's complaint that his personal rights had been violated when Google brought up words "Scientology" and "Fraud" when his name was searched on Google, which damages his reputation.

The court ruled that Google has to remove the search terms deemed defamatory in this case, but it does not have to alter its software or verify generated search terms in advance for possible offensive or defamatory words.  However, Google will have to remove offensive words on autocomplete when notified after the fact.
