Most US Beef, Chicken and Turkey contaminated by Superbugs


 

A federal report published last year says 81% of raw ground turkey, 55% of raw ground beef, and 39 of raw chicken parts were infected with antibiotic-resistant microbes.
 
Intensive farming, where animals are grown and kept in inhumane and crowded conditions, demand adding huge amounts of anti-biotics to their feed.
 
Superbugs are particularly dangerous and even life-threatening to the very young, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems. Antibiotics are helpless to combat them.
 
Medical News Today says:  At the very least, policymakers shouldn't subsidize factory farms over giving funds to farm and ranch stewardship. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Environmental Quality Incentives Program should encourage and support ranchers who raise livestock on pasture - which would reduce the likelihood of disease
